Has any of the OB used the dried compressed block bait from Nets and More? If so, with what outcome?

Quite frankly, I am tired of having orange hands and smelling like death from traditional 5 gallon bucket cheese.

We used to sell those 5 gallon buckets. It was my job to transfer the cheese from 55 gallon drums into the buckets. It was terrible!
We'd get out of date cheese from distributors and leave it in barrels all summer to rot, it would have a thick layer of oil on top and maggots and shite in it.

What a timely thread - I've been wondering what to get my wife for Valentine's Day!

Mess with this shite a few times and a baw will gladly visit Harings and get a box of 3-5oz fillets.

Yes I use it often. It's super convenient, no mess, no smell on your hands, and it works.
They used to have three kinds.
Soybean Meal
Cheese
Soybean/Cheese Combo Power Bait
Anyhow at some point Berkley sued them for using Power Bait and they now call it something else.
But it works. I like the combo. But if you want to catch lots of little carp and small Buffalo and fish for flathead bait then use the soybean meal. My slat traps will absolutely fill up with them.

A lot of people used to use cottonseed cake. But I haven’t worked at the bait house in years.

It works very well in my wire nets. It doesn’t stink at all and the channel cats love it. I would not use anything else.

I remember my dad popping the lid on that five gallon bucket of rotten cheese and almost puking when I was a kid. He fished catfish traps, hoop nets and trot lines too. Good times.

Thanks No Colors and Mudcat--I'll have to give it a try. Mainly running hoop nets on northshore, but also use the wire nets in floor water in spring time fished vertical.
Going to order some and give it a try

Also consider that a 50# flat of pogeys is $40. That's the cheapest bait out there and it works. And it's what the commercial guys use.

I've always said I was going to try it (we always have a flat or so left over after a tournament weekend) but always end up feeding them to the crabs/gators instead of hauling them home.
I do need to try it tho.
I am guessing 10-15lbs per net? or the whole flat?

Anyone know where to buy this between Lafayette and Houma?

I also learned to use gloves if you have a cut on your hands. That stuff will cause an infection.

You can get those blocks at Alario Brothers. They work well.

Pretty informative video! Not many people would want to work that hard for fun!

No but that was a $5000 day for that guy on a total investment of probably $50,000. He's probably only limited by the processing capacity of his market
