Our dickhead rep in SW La was the lynchpin to over ride but was too ill to get to BR for vote. He was appointed to the gaming commission the day after the vote occurred??

Any military veteran can legally conceal carry in Louisiana as of now. Far as I know, no classes necessary and no certification..simply start carrying.

That seems like asking for trouble. So many vets come back so phucked up and unstable.

not a lifetime license, but I let my 5 year lapse and was greater than 60 days post, so I was told that I had to reapply as if initial, even get fingerprinted.
I thought its definitely a money grab, especially since fingerprints dont change and have been in the system.
But I played the game, took the course, filled out the paperwork, got the email to go get fingerprinted at LA State headquarters. Ruined a lunch hour to drive there, wait in line, only to be told that my fingerprints were already on file. took my old license and told me to be heads up for an email and follow the link for payment. Definitely that could have been communicated much differently.

Slight Hijack

Does anyone have any recommendations for a concealed carry class in the Ponchatoula / Mandeville / Covington / Hammond area?

Just witnessed an episode at HiHo in Ponchatoula that made me decide, “It’s time.”

Thinking of suing the state under the equal protection clause.

Veterans don't have the monopoly on fricked up and unstable, there's plenty of that going around lately from the general population.

Too much money in renewals for this to ever pass
there really isnt a ton of money in it.

This isnt inspection stickers where every car on the road requires one.

he only advantage a Lifetime Cert gives you is you only pay money one time. That is the only benefit. I have people argue with me all of the time regarding this but the rules are clear.

You're also missing another distinct advantage, price protection. The cost of the 5-year permit with undoubtedly increase in cost over time. Depending on the future political scene, they may even attempt to price people out of even applying (like they do with tax stamps).
