Not looking for spots but I do think over the years that there are moon phases that are better than others for crabbing? Have a buddy that says it makes no difference. What have y’all found.

I think a full moon brings them into shallow waters to feed. I have scratched both ways though.

I’ve heard the full moon is good and also heard the new moon is good. And then some say it’s only about how “full” the crabs are not how they are running. Maybe the above poster who went today will report in.

I’m by no means anything close to an expert. But my theory is that crabs and frankly most fish, can tell when the tide is moving which moves food around. Crabs feed on dead stuff that gets pushed in by the tide. So my personal theory is that the stronger the tide, the better the crabs will feed/ move to feed. The tide is strongest on a full moon.

Given that, I do certainly think there are other factors because I’ve done great on non full moons and done not great on full moons.

I’ve heard several wives tales primarily saltwater related

One is that the specks spawn during the full moon. Studies have shown there is no correlation to that

Other is that crabs are full during the full moon. No evidence of that either. Crabbers don’t pick up their traps every full moon

Bream however

There could be something to this.
The moon affects the tides and the tides definitely influence the crabs appetites.
I can't speak for everyone here but my best crabbing has been on a high or incoming tide.

Really? Always read its mostly photo period and tide specific but those conditions tend to correlate with full moon
