Dead deer on my property

On the side of a gravel drive on the edge of the woods. I live in Bama about 50 miles NE of Birmingham.
No antlers, looks young and like it should be healthy not like a grizzled old deer and must have just died because it's looks pristine with ants and birds just starting to get at it. No signs of being shot or any wounds at all.
It's laying on its side and the area around its legs looks like it thrashed around while laying on its side before it died.
Any thoughts on what could have killed it?

I guess a wound could be on the side it's laying on. It's about 500 ft from a road.

Thanks. I did by filling out a form online. There was a deer sitting in the back yard just behind the house last week during the day, which I've never seen before and it seemed kind of sluggish but I couldn't tell for sure. Can't say it was the same deer though.

I hunted in evergreen AL for a few years. The only reason I ever put a brush guard on my truck was because of all the deer on side of the road at night. First one hit the front and damn near ripped my door off somehow. The 2 after, brush guard equipped, made my cd player skip. They all looked similar to what you’re describing….minus the ants and birds.

I've picked up several roadkill deer and they sometimes don't have any visible wounds. When you start cleaning then you usually start seeing a broken bone or bloodshot area where the main impact was.

My brother and I used to own property in Evergreen. He worked there and we also leased Rayonier timber property. There were so many deer. When we first hunted Alabama the limit on does was 2 per day for every day of the season. You could legally shoot 100 plus deer a year. It was crazy

Same when I was hunting there. This was 2010-12, so it’s been a while. Deer were everywhere. Had a main camp with about 300 acres attached and another few hundred acres we had to ride the fourhweelers down the road to get to. And I’m pretty sure I’m the reason the Leblanc’s(Rouse’s) by the house started carrying conecuh sausage

Yeah I didn't hear back from the department of wildlife so that's probably what they figured.
Thanks for all of the responses. Could hear multiple coyotes fighting over the carcass late last night. Been awhile since I heard that so close, they make a ghoulish racket.
