Midsize Polaris with 2 inch lift and replace stock tires with some slightly aggressive. If you can get power steering do it
Outfit with extra chain and two snatch blocks and a winch
Put half windshield on it so you don't sufficate in summer and can duck behind in winter

Huntve Game Changer. SS. First season.... Really impressed with performance. Put it to test... Never got stuck ... I've had both, s x s still has more uses.

Regular sized fourwheeler and it's not even close. Even if you do have nice well kept roads, you're spending twice the money to be constrained to those roads.

I had a four wheeler for years and was happy with it. My hunting buddy bought a used Rhino and let me use once. I was hooked. Picked up a used Rhino a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I replaced the big mud tires( like new and I want to sell them)with factory issue, gives a nice smooth ride. I'm older than most on this board and have had my back cut on a couple times so this was a factor.

On the side by sides why not something like an old yota instead? It doesn't seem like the footprint is really any smaller to me and you could build one to be bulletproof for the money you would spend on a sxs?

side by sides are nice but can't get over price tags and seems like always something breaking

You aren't soending twice as much, for me I like being clean, dry, warm, and just the other day I had 2 grown men, a 16 yo, and 390 pounds of deer in mine and had no trouble getting all that out
Then you have the added ability to haul gear for work days. Then on Halloween you can hook up the radio and pull the kids around on a trailer for trick or treat
Yes there are a few holes I have to go around. But I just loop thru the woods

first one was mildly entertaining, then you went straight down hill from there.

This is my biggest concern. We broke 2 axles this year on my FIL's Mule.

I pull a 4x8 trailer behind my 4x4 if I'm hauling that much gear. Goes across anywhere I need and still it is cheaper than a sxs

Buddy called me up when he read the part where I hit you with the Luke Bryan Florida Georgia Line questions....thier entire office was on the floor couldn't catch their breath so I thought it was the better of the two. But oh well touche.

Regular 4wheeler and it's not even close. Never once did I say "man, I wish I had a side by side." We had an ol boy bring his razr out on the family land on one of the work days. Once. If it it wouldn't have been snorkeled and had a few inches of lift, he would've been buying a new engine. Try rocking a 1400 lb box out of a deep hole with about 2 feet of water in the cab. shite don't work podnah!
A four wheeler is easy to maneuver in the mud and on trails where a side by side simply can't fit half the time. If you get stuck on a 4wheeler, hop on the foot peg and rock it or simply get off and pick an end up out of the rut and get some fresh bottom.
The only justification of buying a side by side would be joy rides with the family through the fields and shite, in which case, I'd find me an old jeep for half the price.

I have a 4 wheeler that I occasionaly use, however I use a 2002 toyota "extended" cab 4x4 almost every time. I stay dry and warm, can take in on the highway for short distances without worrying about a ticket. I put "extended" in quotes because unless you are a pigmy you will not be comfortable sitting back there, but it makes a good place to keep my gear etc.
Cost me $2200
Lifted it 2"
Put new tires
Had rear end welded and added lockers to front.
It is ready to go and will go almost anywhere. I have pretty good roads on my farm and I also have a D3B with a six way blade that I will smooth any bad spots our during the summer.
I can pickup any parts at the local CarQuest for cheap. It is easy to work on and numerous videos on YouTube for repairing anything that breaks.
Best of both worlds

You made a good buy on that truck.

All you need homie!
You said all the trails were too small for SXS so this would be my go to ride here. I had it for two years now been putting a little work in on it here and there.

I never said it was pretty. Got rust in places and a few dents. Seats were ripped but I bought a set of seat covers, but it was mechanically sound. I plan to keep it until the wheels rust away.

This picture says it all. And this is a Lifted Terex with some badass tires on it. Any 4 wheeler on the lease could drive right through the same spot

Regular size 4wheelers are the Swiss Army knife. You can go anywhere and get yourself out of most sticky situations with ease. That being said, I graduated from one to a 610 Mule this summer and love it. IF im limited because of it I turn the key off and walk my fat arse where I need to go. I made my decisions based on hunting, yard work, work, and my kids. The SXS was a no brainer for me.
