What about Brookhaven? Haven’t been seeing much. When is typical rut?

I hunt 20 miles south, and rut is mid to late January , hell I had spotted fawns into early December

I had a big boar that would pass thru occasionally for the last few years. 2 sows with about 10 lil ones came and made themselves at home until i fenced it up. Only got 1 pic of them earier this month.

That’s good to know. Means we still have a little time.

I have a creek that runs through behind our house. They seem to run the creek to the west fork of the Amite about a mile south. They don’t hang out long .

I can't stand that bitch. I drive all the way to town to get what I need.
All the way to town from the paper mill? You must be exhausted when you get there. What does that take you, 2 1/2 maybe 3 minutes if you include the walk to your truck?
Deer in Amite usually move pretty heavy right around and just after the new year. As someone else suggested, warm weather and full moon aren’t helping recently. Weekend should be better.

Same here. My place is off Sam Leake.
You probably killing our deer that close. Didn't get a chance to go today. Lost my 4 wheeler key and learned instead how to change an ignition switch. Don't look like I'm going tomorrow with the weather. Gonna see if we can't get something done on Friday.

Bringing this back to the top with an update, hoping for other posters to keep this going with me over the next few weeks.
We saw a 6 point basket rack younger buck dead in a sled new years day, shot around 9AM, tarsals just barely darkened. Being a new area to hunt, we scouted that day a little but it had rained a good bit the night before so tough to tell what scrapes were active or not. Plenty of trees rubbed, so definitely bucks in the area. We put cameras out looking at green plots, no pics in the clearings day or night as of yesterday noon.
We spent the day in the woods yesterday, nothing exciting happened. We grunted a doe into the plot we were hunting maybe around 8, basically the only deer we saw all day.
This is about 4-5 miles east of town.

This weekend we struck out. Just not much movement at all. Saw a few does and that was it. Guy to the north of us caught a nice 9pt chasing onto a plot.
We are just north of woodville as I stated earlier in this thread. I'm going to try and get back out there the next two evenings.

Hunting Liberty area. Plenty of deer in camera but all at night sans one small 6 pt early Sunday morning. Plenty of signs of rut activity with scrapes and rubs on trees. Talked to a buddy that hunts south of me seeing the same. I moved my ladder stand to a new spot yesterday in hopes of catching them coming in and out of a bedding area. Good luck to all you baws!

Just East of McComb, hunted Thursday evening through Sunday evening, Friday morning shot a 6 point trailing a doe (about 15 min behind her nose to ground and he stunk) thought it was going to be on like donky kong, did not see another deer all weekend...scrapes were not freshened up and daytime camera pictures were nil, but that is about right for my place, Rut activity picks up mid through late January which will collaborate with the moon phase this year

Thanks guys, this past weekend was bad as well, hoping with the full moon going away the action will pick up! Can’t get any worse!
