Fall Schooling Stripers and Hybrids

For those of you who are close to any of the herring COE lakes in Georgia and South Carolina the striper and hybrid schooling (jump fishing) has lit up and is on fire. We caught 173 between 4 people Friday between 7 AM and noon. From 3 pounds to 12-15 or so. 173 is how many times one of us remembered to hit the counter....it was way more than that. All on a 3/16 cannon ball jig head and a smoke grey and blue 3 inch paddle tail. Chunking and winding. Acres of fish busting bait on the surface. Reports from the 3 Savannah River Lakes and Lakes Murray and Greenwood are the same....Stripers and Hybrids everywhere chasing bait and busting them on the surface. Its a little early (a couple of weeks) and should last through mid November or early December. By far the easiest fishing of the year...no live bait, no electronics, just driving the boat and looking for fish on top...usually will be a couple or several boats on them already.

I’m going to try that setup on False River.

Do you ever go up to Lake Wylie or Lakr Norman?

Dawg are you finding them up the rivers already or still main lake area?
Was thinking of hitting Clarks Hill this Sunday and was probably going to spend most of my time north of Parksville Rec area and up. Thoughts?

We caught them just off the main river above Parksville in Landrum Branch from the back side of the first couple of islands just off the main river to the main river in both directions. There was a lot of chatter on the radio though and they were catching them all the way down to Dordon Creek at least....lots of boats on the main lake (and the weather was not great LOL) but seemed like the fish were mostly inside the mouths of creeks and just a little up the creek more so than the main lake....but the wind was rough so they could have been on the main lake as well and just no one having to fight all the wind to catch them. I have heard from other people that Little River (Georgia side) and Keg Creek was also on fire this past weekend. Do not know that first hand though. That's the area I normally fish and its a little early for them to be as thick as they were but they are on fire.
