Only a matter of time and WLF or bassholes will screw it up. Enjoy it while you can!

For example: Caney, Lacassine, False River, Catahouachie, the spillway, etc

How’d they screw up Caney?

I know nothing about Caney except they shoved 200 boats on a 5000 acre lake last sat.

2 things that would not happen to me:

1. Have an incredible day of fishing catching 8s and 10s

2. Post on the internet of the location of the place I had an incredible day of fishing.

Probably referring to the grass crap going back 25-30 years ago.

Introduced asian carp about 20 - 25 yeras ago. They all the vegetation which ruined the fishing for several years. Had to establish an eradication program to get rid of them.

The grass is back, and the fishing returned to the days of old.

They tried to screw Caney up several years back when they put grass eating carp in it, they were like cows and ate everything green.

It’s bounced back nicely.

I think the carp they use are sterile so after they all died the bass population exploded again.

Yeah, it was. More or less grew up there. I recall mowing grass as a youngster and watching carp roll in the clippings that would hit the water. Caught a bunch of them. The decline wasn't until years later, though.

It’s not even close to back to how it was before the carp were introduced

Changes are already done. They just don’t get implemented until July I believe.
No more over the slot Bass will be able to be taken out of the lake or rode around in a live well. Remember you heard it here 1st.
I agree with it and it should have been that way from the get go.

Exactly.

It’s not a competition for everyone. If he wants to share his fishing story, good. The one fussing about him sharing is probably the one who keeps 1/2 pound fish or kills 45 lb yearlings. Stop being a buzz kill.

Texas built a new "BASS" lake several years ago and kept it closed until April 2024.

They have signs at every ramp stating anything (BASS) over 16" must be immediately released, unless it's large enough for Share A Lunker.

Black bass
For largemouth bass, only those 16 inches in length or less may be retained. Bass 24 inches or greater in length may be temporarily retained in a live well or other aerated holding device and immediately weighed using personal scales. Bass weighing 13 pounds or more may be donated to the ShareLunker Program; otherwise, the fish must be immediately released in the lake where caught.

WLF recommended a certain amount. The commission went against them and added 4X that amount
