I just get out and rack an 870. Sling it over my shoulder like Paul Bunyan did an ax.

I cant give money away at a gas station.

You just gotta beat them to the punch and ask them for a dolla before they ask you. It generally pisses them off and seems to work.

I keep a loaded Glock 19 between my seat and console if it should ever get ugly.

Honestly, as stupid as it sounds, I'd rather get beat up and have my wallet stolen than shoot somebody, and if I have a loaded weapon and feel like my life is in danger I will use it and definitely not think twice about it.

I guess I just have a naive thinking that it won't happen to me, just like everyone else that it happens to.

I'm thinking about taking a CC class just to learn the laws better. I don't want a CC permit, but I would like to know when I can and cannot blow someone's shite away legally.

Thats how my dad thought until he had someone kick in the door of his hotel room in Houston. He always has at least 1 within arms reach. He has 2 "throw away" guns in his truck now.

For something like that, I would like to be able to smoke em and I feel like they definitely deserve it.

Hotels are one place that I usually have one locked n loaded within grabbing distance. I don't feel safe in a hotel.

That is all well and good and honorable, especially looking at the chaos that is surrounding the Trayvon shooting, but how many thieves these days use their fists and not guns?

This. ^^

For the folks thinking about open carry .................. just remember that there is an exceptionally high incidence of schizophrenia among the homeless. And some heavy drug use.

Why carry a gun where they can see it, and grab it if they feel a compulsion to do so ??

Get a permit and carry concealed. (After you practice -- a lot.)

Thinking a gun will deter a mentally deranged addict or a sociopath is illogical at best. There are ways to deter these folks -- and a good CCW class will teach you some techniques.

I know I know. Somebody is probably going to off me for 5 dollars one day, which is terrible considering I have more than enough equipment and know-how to defend myself from the average thug (I bet I could put 6 rounds in a guy's chest with my SA .357 at 20 yards before he could blink) but I just can't make myself carry a loaded gun in public. Just can't do it. I feel entirely too safe in my hometown.

ETA: And Lord have mercy on anybody who decides to shoot it out with me at close range when I have an 870
I can shuck that thing like you wouldn't believe.

This is why we need electric vehicles. Eliminate gas/diesel, and you eliminate thugs begging for gas at the gas station. Stupid gas guzzlers.

If i see someone approaching me that I think is going to ask me for money, I always ask them for money before they have a chance to speak. You should see some of the looks they give me...

I'm sure that taking the class would convince me to get a CC permit. One of my good friends keeps telling me that I will not be able to take the class without following through with the paperwork

I just don't like the gov't knowing that I like packing heat.

Absolutely pointless. I carry a 1911 with a round chambered and the hammer back. All I have to do is flip the safety down with my thumb as I pull it from the holster.

It's not really pointless. I'm in a whole lot better position than someone without a gun. I can chamber a round in about 2 seconds, and if I'm driving in the ninth ward or getting gas at night, it's usually gonna get chambered.
