Those guys that get wet don't get phased by anything. I've seen one personally get hit by a car going 35 and have nothing wrong.

I've heard stories from police and even seen on COPS where they shoot the guys 10-20 times from <10yds and they are still charging. It is amazing what smoking one laced joint can do to someone, but it happens

maybe the definition of center mass is variable?

I consider anything in the 9 ring center mass and all others to be flesh wounds.

the 9 ring corrolates with the heart, great vessels, and left lobe of the liver.

+1

6 shots with a 40 in that area I find it hard to believe he is still breathing when EMS shows up.

could easily survive 6 shots through a single lung that miss major vessels.

OP, let me get this straight, your buddy opens the door only to be met with a badguy holding a gun to his head, correct? Then the badguy pointing the gun at your buddy watches him retrieve his firarm and unload a mag into him while he does nothing? I'm confused. Why would this bad just stand there and not pull the trigger once?

The guy was on the other side if the living room and was training the gun on him right after he opened the door. My buddy just got out of the military so he just went into combat mode when he saw the guy stepped back opened he drawr got his pistol out and shot. I wasn't there, but this was out of his mouth. I have no idea what kind if ammo he had either I just know the guy survived but is really fricked up and on life support

I can't tell if you guys don't believe the story that he connected 6 times, or if you think it's crazy that the guy isn't dead.

Has anyone ever read the story from LA a while back where an armed citizen shot a champion boxer 5 times in the chest with a Sig P220 (45ACP)? Like others have said, when someone is hopped up on drugs or has an adrenaline rush to last a lifetime, they have to bleed out and lose consciousness to actually die.

Unless a shot is made to the CNS, aka spine or brain, the perp will not stop immediately in most cases.

This is why the whole "stopping power" argument is ridiculous. As downshift said, a pistol is anemic at stopping people when compared to rifles and shotguns.

That is, unless Downshift is using some of those buffalo bore 357s.

This does not sound like what you described in the OP.

After having read the tv station version and the OP's version, I'm really confused..... I thought there were 3 people in the residence (not including the guy who was shot), but sounds like only two according to tv. Version by tv also says the perp was trying to break in whereas OP makes it sound like the bad guy was in the residence........ I agree that the tv version is VERY poorly written. Although I don't know what happened, I'm glad the good guy survived a deadly situation w/o any of the victims being injured. Yeah, it's odd that (6) 40 caliber HP's at close range didn't kill the BG, but at least it stopped the threat.

Wouldn't have made it that far in my house. Just get it over with, drink a brewski, and go get your story straight before calling the cops. Also, tell the broads to GTFO. That just leaves him room to tell his side of the story

So, do something legal that you will get in no trouble for.....then, frick with it enough that your story makes zero sense and you could get in trouble for?

He stopped the crime, that was his intent. How could there be a better way. The criminal dead or not makes no diff to me.

I'd have my friend's back the same way if some online armchair quarterback was acting like he was there.

Give the guy a fricking break. We won't know the facts until a full report is given.

3 people live there. 2 girls and 1 guy. One of the girls was in class, the one you see get interviewed when this happened. I take offense that someone said this was drugs. It wasn't I can promise y'all that.

Also in TN you can only shoot to neutralize not kill so when the guy went down it was over. If he had executed him that would have been murder

I believe the guys buddy did hit him the 6 or 7 times as he stated...but the OP said 6 shot hit dead center of his chest and 1 shot in the shoulder. I think maybe that the 6 shots where kind of scattered out a little wider than "dead center"

Again I am not saying the guy should have died on the spot or dropped in his tracks, I just find it interesting the guy was still alive after the medics got there with 6 shots "dead center".

I am no medical expert and I think things happen in the medical profession that are hard to explain at times so maybe this is just one of those things.

I agree with BP on the 9 ring interpretation as 'center mass' And I'm sorry but you could have had an ocean of PCP and it's not going to save you with your heart and spine blown out. I get adrenaline can give you a little bit before you succumb, but if this dude is still alive in the hospital, I'd be amazed if even ONE of those hits was center mass.
