Small dog: Feist (aka Rat Terrier

I had a rat terrier as a kid, was a great dog.

I had a boxer that died last year at 13. Not the most useful dogs in the world, but a great family pet.

If I were making this choice, I'd go with a Lab first and second choice would be a rescue mutt.

Worst aspect of a dog is their lifespan is typically less than yours.

Best aspect of a mutt is they typically live longer than any purebred.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be banned for posting a pic of a dog exposing it's genitals.

My cousin has a Goldendoodle that is extremely smart and does not shed. Great dog for in the house.

TD rules aside, my dog is very modest.

I got two Australian shepherd that are great. Easy to train, friendly and the shedding is not bad either.

Sorry man. That argument that "independence equals a smarter dog" sounds like when ppl try to tell me cats are smarter because they don't listen. lol

Labs are THE smartest dogs in the world. When is the last time you saw a heeler:

1)Be a seeing eye dog?
2)Be a therapy dog?
3)Sniff out fricking explosives?
4)Sniff out people trapped in snow?
5)Fetch a darn beer out of an ice chest for crying out loud?

I'll wait

So glad you waited.

Look pal, I'm not trying to start an argument with you. Labs are very smart, trainable dogs.

I'm not sure about your list (except for the beer retrieval. a quick search on youtube will show that very task performed by a heeler), but when did you see labs that separated specific livestock from a herd? or ride a horse? etc.

The independence that I'm talking about is just something anyone should consider before buying one. They require different handling.

The dogs that consistently are used to learn complex tricks for entertaining crowds are Australian Shepherds and Heelers. Look up Skidboot the Heeler.
