Get a full size gun if it's just for home defense. Or a compact or sub/micro if youre also going to be CC.

Yes to all of them.

The SIG 365 is arguably the best of the group, but it always comes down to fit and fire in your hand. It'll just feel right. Since you're down to those 5 I won;t muddy the water with suggestions.

Watch videos online from guys like "Honest Outlaw" - sometimes those help as well.

I love almost all guns. We all have different experience & skills. No 2 people should have identical preferences. Kinda like beer...

Great point here. Maybe it's because I've always had SA and DA/SA pistols, but I'd put a striker-fired gun last on the list for my own personal choice.

Also, maybe it's because I like and am comfortable with metal frames, but I'd never look twice at a polymer framed gun.

If you find you like DA/SA and metal frames, here's a sleeper pick for you:

Lionheart LH9 (Daewoo DP 51). I co-listed the Daewoo, because the Lionheart IS a Daewoo DP 51, with nice cerakote paintjob and new grips.
I have the original Daewoo with it's anodized frame and matte-blued slide, and it's sneaky-good. It jumps in line ahead of a lot of better-known, bigger named guns.

It's comfortably on the border between compact and fullsize, with a flush-fit 13 rd doublestack mag. It points well, has very good 3 dot sights that line up great (for me). Grip design and angle is nice, and mitigates recoil as well or better than some fullsize 9mm pistols. Feeds everything reliably. I have zero trouble quickly shooting longnecks or cans at 15 yds (which, for me, is the required standard of accuracy). At the range, I can hit those neon plastic longnecks as they're still swinging on a cord from a prior hit.

2 benefits=
it's technically a "triple action", not standard DA/SA. You can rack the slide to chamber a rd, then push the hammer forward with your thumb. It's by design, can do it safely with the safety on. This gives you a long first pull like a DA, but it stays the weight of a SA pull. If you pull slowly, you do feel a slight change when it flips the hammer back, but it's very light and you don't sense it with a normal pull. Every following shot is normal SA, which is light and controllable.

Second benefit is it takes 3rd Gen S&W 59xx mags. They'd hang out a bit, but gives you full-capacity mags that are easily found, up to 18 rd (I think?) from Mecgar. If you have a 5906 you already have spare mags.

I sure wish someone would make a smaller DA/SA with a Decocker. I have the P2000sk and the RAMI and both are a little thick and heavy.

I have a p320 compact for the house, I really like this gun. Need to go shoot. Haven't been in forever.

and a M&P Shield 2.0 for carry

edit - I read that you are looking for one that is dual purpose. I wouldn't want to carry my p320, too bulky for me. The Shield is very slim, and what I prefer.

Idk but I personally don't think g19 is a good conceal pistol, and I would probably put the p320 in there also as being a bit to large. But to each his own.

I use a kahr cm9 but was very close to getting a kahr cm40 or shield 40 and getting conversion barrels for them.

If it's going to be your first, then go to a range that has most of the ones your considering for rent. The smaller the pistol the less fun it is but more concealable. If it's going to be the one and only maybe g19 or p365xl or p320

does anyone with an HK p30 9mm notice shell casing ejecting back on top of your head? Never experienced that and figured may be just wan't broken in yet.

ETA: of what could be causing that.

My P2k doesn’t do that. Did you get an HK?

It either needs to be shot more to loosen the recoil spring or the ammo is watered down.

Or both.

yeh ended up grabbing one after shooting a buddies hk45. I had read that HK's sometimes need the springs to break in, but idk if it has anything to do with it. The ammo was just white box federal but who knows. 115 grain fmj from academy. Its funny at the moment as it was bouncing off the top of my head the first range trip, but that will get old fast Also, I really love the deckocker and hammier but that DA is hefty. Can't believe I lost it in the red river when I was fishing yesterday.

Down the rabbit hole you go. The beauty of hammer fired weapons are that they are so customizable.

Hell, just messing with hammer springs can make a huge difference.

https://hkparts.net/shop/pc/HK-Pistol-Parts-c15/HK-P30-Variants-c385/

The first order of business is the Grayguns short reset kit, which swaps out the control latch and firing pin block spring. LINK

Nickel plated flat spring. LINK

My gun works best with the 11 lb hammer spring, LINK, but you can go down to 10.

And a light trigger return spring. LINK

That should get you right up against the ‘match trigger’ that was available in the USP and HK45. They sell a flat trigger for yours, but I just had a over-travel stop screw added to my OE one.

@ Gatson I appreciate it, that is on my list to do.

Haha not with all the practice my right arm has gotten in my lifetime. It was doing it to two buddies shooting it too. Its just ejecting straight up backwards. A tad to the right but literally straight up almost, either bouncing off my head or going over it lol. It probably just needs a few hundred rounds though it.

Anyone have experience with the PSA Dagger?

Suppressor ready with night sights under $400 seems enticing.

I've got the shield 2.0 and shield plus. The plus is even better. The size difference is virtually indistinguishable and the plus, when empty actually weighs slightly less.

In my opinion, the 14 round capacity makes the plus a really good dual purpose gun.

Also, all of the 2.0 accessories fit the plus. Including lights and lazers.

Smith got it right with this pistol.

They've had some quality control problems. Pins backing out, shite like that.
