Never broke a shrimplet hook. Have bent a few up that I had to straighten. We did have the bigger Marker 54 but the Shrimplet seemed to do better.
I just ordered these for the first time. I have the jerk and shrimplets. headed to Cocodrie this weekend. Should I start with the shrimplets over the jerk? Under cork or just tightlined?

I personally would start with the shrimplet. If you have someone else fishing put them on the bigger shrimp. I always like to have everyone throwing different baits until we find what they really like. Good luck.

Will be in a boat with live bait chunkers. I do this every year and always try to find a way to not have to throw live shrimp. I actually did OK at times last year on DOA and H&H shrimp.

I go straight to the jerk and glide on my boat. We made two guys in our boat last Sunday put away the live because my son and I were putting them in the boat so fast.

I love the shrimplets just hate the hook

Yes I fish both under a cork or when the river is green I'll carolina rig them. It may be just me but while trout fishing all it takes for me is one bull red or big trout and the hook either straightens out or breaks it's happened more than once so I just switched to the glide and jerk and they don't break or bend.

I'm not an authority on this I could be doing something wrong it's just observations from an idiot.

This will be my first trip with them. I'll probably be the only one out of 8 throwing artificial.

I used to rig Carolina but I started using a drop shot rig this year. 12”-18” off the bottom! Keeps that bait a little higher off the bottom.

I lost so many Marker 54s a few weeks ago due to sharks and Mackrel it would have been wayy cheaper to fish live bait! Hahaha

But the trout do love them

We went offshore there last weekend and there was a family who were cleaning some nice Red Fish and Sheepshead while we were cleaning our catch. Our boat caught our limit of Red Snapper, a couple of small Mahi-Mahi and a 220# Yellow Fin Tuna. I landed the largest Snapper that was right at 22#.
Fun trip!

Were the fish being cleaned at Venice Marina? If so, I saw that tuna, what a toad.

We had quick limits of snapper and a couple of bonus mangroves, and would have beat the rush to the cleaning table, but we stopped to help a boat full of folks (and their dog) that were DOA at the mouth of Octave Pass. We drug them North for a couple of hours before their buddy showed up a towed them the rest of the way. Sure hope they got a Seatow membership after that.

Watched the first game of the CWS in the bar at the Venice Marina, what a fun time.

It was! It was the first fish of the day. The rod was set up for 50# fish. I was handed the rod without the harness. I was hanging on for dear life. After about 15-20 minutes I was toast. They got the harness on the next guy and we got him in about 50 minutes! Fun times!

These are so good. I caught very well this trip on both jerk and shrimplets. Only complaint, and this is minor, it can be very difficult to remove the hook.

I am headed down this afternoon.....

Last couple weekends seems to me the islands have cooled off some still some BIG fish there but not the numbers that were there. We fished some rigs last weekend and did very well.

Weekend before smoked them on the west side tried that one day last week and did very little.

So they are still very much around and I have no idea which direction to go in tomorrow....

There was spot near a structure(I don't know what to call it) that 4 casts in a row resulted in a quick bite and cut leader. Even when I switched to 20lb. Our guess was Spanish.
