Headed up to Toledo Bend for a long weekend! Can’t wait to get up there, I grew up on that lake. We are gonna be staying at Wildwood resort in Zwolle. Anybody been up there lately? Any fishing reports to speak off?

Definitely gonna be targeting Bass, but will try to put the wives and kids on some bream.

We are headed up there in June to do some fishing and riding around in the forest. Can't wait.

Went fishing at a local lake here in the DFW and didn't really have much luck after all the rain we've been getting. Mostly catfish. Oddly enough I caught about 3 carpe in the cast net. Hate those fish.

In general may is not the best time for bass. Better chances with sacalait and some perch.

I listened to a podcast with the guy that just won the Sealy Big Bass thing last weekend.

Said he caught the 10.7 on a ditch donkey glide bait.

Also said he threw it for three days and only landed the one fish on it

We went with Bent Rods a few weeks ago. We booked two afternoon trips with them so we could bass fish in the morning.

It was pretty rough the first day and we ended up with close to a limit. Second day we caught a limit.

I'd definitely book with them again. Afternoon trips are cheaper than morning trips and still plenty of opportunity to catch fish without having to get moving too early. Those guys are definitely pros and could pull up a fish when we could not.

First time using live scope, that's super impressive. I found myself just staring at the screen. I think I enjoyed it more when I was fishing without it, but I caught more when I was looking at it.

Fan points with a carolina rig 10-18' deep.

Specific soft plastic really doesn't matter, but we used watermelon lizards and flukes... yes, flukes.

When I say watermelon, I mean watermelon red, watermelon candy, etc. Green base color, flake color seemed irrelevant.

Honestly if you haven't been here in a while targeting bass is gonna be tough for you. Id stick to the 10k+ White perch piles around the lake and some redears and bluegills. Maybe runa trotline or noodles at night to have fun. We are in what i consider the worst 8-10 weeks of Bass fishing on Toledo Bend. Scattered is an understatement. If you dont have great electronics youll struggle. Hell I struggle with em this time of year.

Was up there last weekend. Sacalait fishing the entire time. It was very slow. We were fishing on brush piles with shiners. I think the weather that came through on Thursday messed them up.

Hope yall have better luck than us. It's a fun trip either way.

Hey Pard,
Come with an open mind. I’m right down the road from where you will be. Everyone I talk to says that it’s slow. Keep an open mind. Enjoy yourself.

Don’t let everyone discourage you from bass fishing. The offshore bass bite has been as good as ever. We caught close to 100 on an afternoon trip earlier this week. 50-70 bass has been our average outside of the 3 days of he splash last weekend. A jigging spoon and Carolina rig is all you need. Look on points in 20-30’

There is a white catfish in the pond behind the big event center.

Mexican place across from Market basket "El patio" get the 4x4 appetizer.

You can also go down to fisherman's galley and get their cheesesteak. It's awesome.

I’m going up later in the weekend. Reports are not promising, high water has the fish scattered and the perch jerking way off.

Sounds like they are pushing deeper. It's been 3 weeks since I've been, but it sounds like you and I are doing the same thing.

I was on Rayburn a few weeks ago, but they had the lake drawn down. Bass were in 15-20' of water. These two lakes usually fish similar.
