The complaint claims that Baker had conspired with Sheriff Mike Cazes of West Baton Rouge to obtain the gun store's trade secrets to put the gun club out of business. They allegedly did this by failing to maintain equipment, properly account for cash and took actions that caused several annual events to be canceled by the event organizers.

At the same time, Baker was conspiring to take over the gun club’s business by convincing the law enforcement district to cancel its lease with Great International Land Company.

I don't think it's over by a long shot. I personally wouldn't move too fast to sink my money into improving that spot.

$300/year plus you still have to pay for skeet, clays, and use of the rifle/pistol range.

I'd love to be able to shoot outdoors close to BR, but that's too rich for me.

You don't have to be a member to shoot there. You get a discount on your rounds if you are a member. It just depends on how much you go...and if access to the rifle/pistol range matters to you.

Per the website:

Skeet & Trap - $10.50
Sporting Clay/5 Stand - $12.50

That is the price for 25 targets for non members.

Skeet & Trap - $5.75
Sporting clays/5 stand - $7.00

That is the price for 25 targets for members

This is what I want. I'd love to be able to shoot outdoors close to BR. But, I'd probably only be able to pop over 2-3 times a month with work.

I understand they are a business and I hope they do well, but having to pay for range time on top of the $300/year is just too steep for me.

I will still go for the occasional round of trap without a membership, although those prices havent been posted on the website yet.

Agreed. I don't like that setup.

This is starting to look like it's going to be a typical Louisiana way of doing things. A group of lawyers are going to make a shite-ton of money and we (the public) are more than likely going to end up without a gun club.

Price is $14 for the fun shoot. So that's a couple bucks cheaper.

Stations are card activated. You get 50+5. Club house is looking good, still looks like a lot left to do.

I think skeet/trap/5stand can be voice controlled.

Pretty cool.

Didn't the previous owners do a membership drive after knowing the lost they lease?
I don't recall any sort of membership drive. The previous tenant (the owner is the high sheriff) did make arrangements for HR members to shoot at Covey Rise, Wilderness and Riverside (on whatever days it was open), during the hiatus.

The new Bridgeview manager intimated at one point that members of HR would get some sort of consideration for the unused portion of their HR membership. Seems like that isn't being discussed any more.

As was mentioned, you can still shoot trap, skeet and sporting clays w/o a membership (but at a higher rate per target). There really isn't any 5 Stand being thrown -- too labor intensive to have a trapper/score keeper available.

The only element that isn't available to non-members is the rifle/pistol range. You can go as a guest of a member if he/she stays with you the entire time.

The previous tenant (Ron Duplessis) still sends out emails periodically to the HR members apprising them of his progress in finding a new site for HR on the east side of the river. Latest email said sites in Ascension Parish are being evaluated.

I suspect a lot of people will wait to see what the new HR looks like before buying a membership at one place or the other. In the meantime, they can shoot shotgun sports at non-member rates at Bridgeview.

Interesting stuff on the suit.

I don't understand all the relationships.

It's a nifty study on employer/employee relationship and confidentiality.

Came shoot the Thursday shoot today. Have to say the clubhouse is looking good and the stands are nice as well.

They are using a card system where they give you a card with a number of shots loaded on it. We did run into an issue of people running out of clays at the end, but enough other guys had enough extras for everyone to finish up.

The throwers aren't activated unless the card is inserted this hub. Then it counts down the number of shoots loaded on it. We shoot the Thursday fun shoot which is 50 clays, and they loaded 55 shoots on each of our cards.

So you "see" the clays before you shoot? :(

We looked at them a couple times before shooting, but however between gun malfunctions, the safety bug, and broken clays we pretty much ate up all of those extra clays.

What if a thrower is breaking the clays when they go airborne? It just burns off the shots as if it didn't happen?

Did HR ever have an issue with the honor system?

I don't know how old HR could have lost money on people abusing the honor system when half the machines were down at any given time.
