My dad would keep gou when he caught any and would give them away. I have eaten gou fried and it was okay...not great, just okay.

But I must admit I have eaten these also and prefer it over gou. Ring it and skin it like you would a catfish. Fry the same as a fish fillet, BUT, eat it while it's hot...gets nasty when it cools.

We would catch them fishing for catfish at night in a local cold water creek. Big wad of earthworms on a hook and let it sink to the bottom.

We all em, “Congo eels”. They’d get into the crawfish traps and eat every damn crawfish then can’t find their way out. Never tried to eat one though, we’d smash its head and leave it for crawfish bait. Good times!

Pardon my ignorance. Is a Gaspergou a freshwater drum?

I ate 3-4 Goo filets last week. Tasted fine but I had the loudest and stinkiest farts you ever been around the next morning.
I don’t know if my stomach couldn’t break it down or what but it sounded like a rhino and smelt like a dead coon

Caught an eel on Red RIver that I thought was gonna sink the boat with slime. Was amazing.
