I'm hunting a road between a cutover and mature pines with my .30-06. It's 35 degrees with a beautiful sunrise. Saw 2 deer feeding on the side of the highway driving over here this morning. I'm wearing my heated socks but only one is working so that's nice.

This will be my last hunt until around Christmas. I'm hoping for any action I can get this morning.

Area 2
44° SE wind
28 nos

In my saddle where I hunted from midday till dark yesterday. Over a little bottom that runs to the cutover and makes a perfect shooting lane. Hopefully the one that snapped that tree at the base shows up.

Jim Hogg County
58* dense fog
.270 Winchester and Browning Gold 12ga
Box Blind

Saw my first bucks of the week, 5 nice racks, the one I was eyeing, never could get a good count on points. I’m on a cull hunt, a 10 point mistake and I won’t be able to return. Saw one making a scrape, and another chasing a doe. Hoping they get to running before we leave Sunday.

ETA: a group of longbeards ran past my stand, one less ran out.

I agree!!

I plan to be like A bear tomorrow. Climber and rifle because I'm going deep into a piece that was hit by a tornado years ago and it is full of trails.

Nah. I like mine a little on the trashy side. He needs to breed. He’s beautiful though.

Had a tough dry year and the numbers are way down. We’re keeping our sites on the real freaks and thin horns. Not as aggressive as we have been for quite a while.

Wonder where Rize is at? I always enjoyed his pictures of those big Texas bucks that he would let walk.

Love to hear it. Not sure how much mobile hunting you do, but a saddle is life changing if you do a lot. Especially if you’re just rifle hunting. You only need 2 sticks and a platform. You could cut at least 15lbs depending on what climber you have.
