41° slight north wind
28 nosler
In my saddle in the same spot as yesterday evening. Hoping this cold weather gets them looking for does. My brother and buddy arrived this morning to join me. Hoping they get a chance at a buck too. First time I’ve had company since thanksgiving weekend. Good luck!

Had more pictures overnight and early this morning (best I could tell through the fog) that I’ve had all season. Was hoping to get up in time to hunt this evening, gf is so hungover, this appears unlikely. Been some monsters killed the past few days in our area, and conditions look great.
Be safe guys!

Have seen four already this morning from three different sides of the stand. Small 3 pt and three does. Deer moving like crazy today and the rut seems to be in full swing here. My boys on each a box stand keep waiting to hear a rifle crack. Good luck baws the woods just feel right this morning.

My backyard in a tripod overlooking some game trails and a nice little draw where they like to move.
29 and still. Temps are dropping but the cold weather hits early next week.
CVA Optima .50 cal
Squirrels everywhere but no deer so far.
Happy New Year and good luck to everyone!

I think we’re getting there. Just had a buck trailing a doe’s path across my power line

Your gf is so hungover that you can’t hunt the evening? You’re a better bf than me, because mine would be dealing with that hangover by herself even if the conditions looked bad

I cannot comprehend the second part of this.

Best morning I’ve ever had
Hunting with a 35mm camera, 270, & AR (hogs)
At least 8 bucks and I’ve got some great pics I’ll share once I get my laptop
No hard chasing but lots of followers and some just cruising

Yep. I just got down and was packing up and looked over and saw a real nice 7pt cruising about 60 yards away. A damn fine public land buck, but I’m on my last tag and I’m looking for a 140’s+

I'll be up by 2 for the afternoon shift. Same tree as yesterday, I like the view even if my neck doesn't.

Naw man, it’s a 4 hour drive from BR to the piney woods of Leake County, so her sleeping in caused my ETA to slip significantly. Didn’t want to start 2025 on a bad note and leave her at home, somebody has to make my sammich.
I’m lucky to have one that really enjoys going to hunting camp and to Grand Isle in the summer, an occasional lapse in judgment is easy to overlook.

Up and ready. My wife said "go get one, I feel like cleaning a deer today" as I left. Some of us are luckier than we deserve.

Back at it for the evening
60° with a slight north wind
.308 over a planted food plot. Not too far from a hardwood bottom.

Update from the am hunt. My eldest son finally broke the ice and killed his first deer about a 130 lb 3 pt. Middle son asked if he could shoot a doe I gave the ok and bam ….. a button buck. Can’t fault him too much just turned 15 and hunting solo for the first time this year. Live and learn it will be tender though.
Back at it this afternoon with the daughter while my wife is on another stand.
Hoping for a hog to round out the meat haul.

Planned on putting my brother about 200 yards down from me this morning. He wanted to go hunt another spot though. He didn’t see anything and I heard chasing through the water where I was gonna put him.
He wanted to hunt there this evening though, and I told my buddy to go a few hundred yards down from my brother. Basically we would all be in a line.
Well coming back in from lunch, there was a guy set up about 20 yards from the tree I hunted with my sticks still on it. All good, I wasn’t trying to hoard the spot. I grabbed my sticks real quick after talking to him and moved out of his area.
My brother and buddy still went to the spots I told them to go to. They got set up around 3:00, and by 4:00 they both had bucks on the ground! I’m happy as can be. Especially for my brother since he doesn’t get to hunt much these days with having 3 little ones at home.
