Dude, you are way wrong on this. A kid can flip a safety switch. But if your kid has access to your gun, you've failed immensely.

With kids,

You are supposed to store the ammo separate from the gun itself. You aren't supposed to keep a loaded gun safety or not anywhere near a fricking kid unlocked.

I think you're nutts. Besides that, you keeps moving the discussion around. I don't have time for this and it's not constructive to discuss it with you. be happy with your choices. Enjoy life.

Revolvers are great for a woman because most of them have no clue how to chamber a round. My wife is a tiny little thing full of spit and fire so I decided a revolver just wasn't for her.

We spent nearly a month going through how to load a clip, chamber a round, and when the gun is safe and it isn't. Unfortunately for me, she's a fricking deadly shot and downright scary with her gun now. She struggled to chamber a round at first but she yanks that shite into firing position within seconds now. It would take me about 0.2 seconds to clear a room she was located in with her gun.

This is the gun we ended up going with for her first. It's a 9mm which are not known for accuracy but it hardly kicks and she's a deadly aim with it.

It must be really nice up there in your ivory tower... Dude, do you have any children? They get into EVERYTHING. They climb, they figure out how to open things, they have a sixth sense (did I spell it right?) for finding anything that you don't want them to have!!! I practice gun safety and I keep my pistol locked up (with ammo because what's the point of having a gun for self defense when the ammo is up in the top of your closet).

All your preaching about gun safety is wonderful, but shite HAPPENS. In a perfect world no child would ever have access to guns but I like guns and frequently handle/clean/shoot/tinker with them. I don't want to have a dead kid and be asking myself "If I had a safety on my gun would he/she still be alive?"

So please get down off your high horse and get a life.

Thanks Alx.
I just don't appreciate someone who doesn't know the difference between cents and sense telling you and me that WE failed and shouldn't own a gun. I have two Masters degrees and a PhD, spare me the lectures man.

BTW I just noticed your location. Nice Monty Python reference.

No high horse at all. Simple common sense. I don't know where you are losing me. Relying upon a safety switch as added protection for your kids safety involving your gun is silly.
