OK, so I never pulled the trigger. I'm being told to do it now!

Refined list down to

Huskvarna with 190cc Honda engine

Snapper High Vac

Which and why?

Two complaints with current Toro are:

1. Bagging shuts down if grass is too tall. It bogs up in the exit.

2. Seems to be low in power when St. Aug gets thick.

Go!

They are priced like a commercial unit because they are a commercial unit. I think a guy down here was selling the 21 for $950, and the 25 for $1250. Too pricey for most people running push mowers, but my grass pisses me off because it is so thick. I'm actually thinking about leaving the weeds alone this year

Yeah, I considered commercial because of this. I think I'll go with Snapper because of the bagging aspect of it.

I probably posted in this thread earlier, but I have a HiVac commercial and it's a stud. I don't bag other than leaves but it will choke up if leaves are wet, I would assume it would choke up with wet grass as well. Mine has the Kawasaki FJ180v engine and will munch. Found it used for $250. I like the wheel drive system as well, it looks easy to work on.

I currently have the Honda and cut a little less than 3/4 of an acre with it.

I does everything I need for the most part, I wish it handled leaves better when my oaks start dropping but over all its a strong machine for what it is.

I have actually been thinking of going with the Toro Timemaster because of the extra width and extra torque for all the damn leaves I deal with.

I do my best to avoid mowing when it's wet.

Yeah, I have to wait a few days to cut after a rain, and my yard drains quickly. The grass just holds water like a sponge

My backyard is the thickest, and it holds dew forever. Not enough direct sun.

Understood, just don't want to get your hopes up, I figure mine will choke up with big, high moisture grass, too.

What i hate about my Toro is the way it clobs. There is no fixing it short of stopping and then dumping a 1/6 full bag. No amount of tilting or shaking will get it to flow.

Twin blade Honda. Gives you a proper fine cut mulch. Skip the bagging. Even if you do decide to bag the twin blade clips the lawn clippings finer so they clog up less and you fit more clippings per bag. You can mow some really thick wet grass with a sharpened twin blade and still get a very fine mulch with no clumping.

I struggled with the same decision -- especially knowing how good the Honda engines are. But, I finally went with the Snapper Hi-Vac because it had the higher torque (8.25 engine) and my St. Augustine grass is really thick in places. The mower has been nothing short of awesome.

NOTE: I didn't need the bag attachment and wanted the mulcher so I bought the Ninja model. There are two versions and the one you want has the bigger engine.
