Caught one in home office two weeks ago.

The part of the story that I left out was that on the second night that I caught 4, one got away in my wife’s SUV and vanished under the seat - either underneath the carpet or in the floor AC duct. Spent 15 hours out of sight, then it came crawling out while I was driving the next day. Of course, my wife had my Vette because there was no way in hell she was driving her vehicle til that snake was found.

Every single ones of those bastards musked me. And when you grab them they freak out and fling it all over. It has a unique almost “sweet” smell - not nearly as bad as water snakes.

Or speckled king snakes, whoa, they stink. Cleared a duck hole up in shallow water when the lake was down. Got a dozer to come in and clean up the hole. Those amphiumids were everywhere after the dozier cut into the dirt/mud. Had never seen one before.
