This exactly! Also in most places in the south and particularly south Louisiana the deer can bed and feed basically in the same place. In the Midwest they have to travel more between bedding and feeding areas the thus making them much more visible.

I hunt about 30 minutes up 61 from you. I am seeing plenty of movement during the day. My advice is don't hunt where you have those cameras out if there are no daytime pics until the rut starts.

I am hunting a very small acreage so I can't really move around to find them, but I don't have a single buck on camera. Camera has only been out a week. But still that is not good for early season success.

100% they are moving in the daylight. Leave the plots and turn the feeders off and go hunt the deer where they want to be. 100% Nocturnal deer are super rare. On avg they move just as much in the daytime as they do at night. Open areas, high lines, pipe lines, fields, large distances of sight are not where deer want to be and feel uncomfortable in those areas all the time. Get in thick tight cover next to transitions and youll be covered up with deer

That's the best advice for hunting "nocturnal" deer.... they're moving in the daylight, they just may not be leaving the thick stuff.

They dont do that crap in Kansas and other large MidWest whitetail states....the South seems to be more affected....
now compare the woods & Forrest of the south to the little woodlots of the Midwest. Deer have no cover other that standing corn fields.

You’re not wrong but as someone else above pointed out, just because they’re moving and feeding doesn’t mean they’re visible. The radio collar data that is coming out right now is confirming a lot of what we already knew, in the south they tend to bed where there is both food and cover and they don’t routinely leave it without a reason in daylight. A buck will feed two to three times a day, but he may not move more than 50 yards. It’s easy to say go where they are, get off the feeder, etc but you’re not getting into 3 year old cutover with him without being detected. The less pressure they perceive the more comfortable they are in leaving that security, but the rut is the only thing that consistently gets them covering actual ground.

I shut my feeders down 2 weeks ago and the camera activity is down like 90%. My neighbors with less acreage still have them going and they are now seeing the bucks I've been seeing for two years. They thought they were all dead and now they are all excited lol.

I'm just praying my food plots get up and flourish enough to become better food options that give them a better sense of security.

I'm playing the long game...I know I'll lose bucks to the corn pilers, but I also know I'll grow bigger deer that will keep on my property.....and I also KNOW for a fact that they will only visit those feeders between 8pm and 3am.

To be fair, I dont blame my neighbors for baiting....they have dense pine forest with zero food and cant get anyone to come cut them anything to put a decent size food plot in.

I'm focused on killing 15-20 doe this season anyway.

The deer on my property are genius. All 4 days during Thanksgiving almost no daylight pics except a couple of does. Today on Monday my camera lit up like a Christmas tree with daylight pics. Mostly does but a couple small bucks. The SOB feel that pressure all around them and tighten up.

If the does are consistently coming to the feeder day and night. Then it makes no sense to turn feeder off right?

Cant killem on the couch! Get in the woods as much as possible! The one time you dont go, will be the day they come out! Not much science to it. Their animals and still have food in the woods. No reason to move alot during the day yet.
