Yep, I'll have both of those soon, if I can quit spending my allowance on other stuff

Alright fellas, are all lowers essentially the same except for polymer? It seems like they are all made the same way from a block of aluminum. Also, what is a 'pull the trigger' price right now. I haven't been following lower prices
Posted on 2/1/13 at 3:40 pm to TigerTatorTots
From what I've read, forged AR lowers are only made in 3 or 4 factories in the US, if that many. The 7075 aluminum lowers are all from 1 factory, as far as I can tell although there may be a second one since I'm no expert. Different manufacturers just engrave their own stuff on the side of the mag well. There are a few companies who treat their lowers by standard MIL-Specs, and one or two who go far beyond those. Umbrella Corp (yes that is a real company) just released their lowers last weekend, and as far as I'm concerned did too much extra shite that's not needed and it has driven their prices way too high for me.

Did you get one of the billets that were in stock just now?

Just make sure it's mil-spec before you buy, which 99% of them will be

Someone splain to me what a billet lower is. TIA

should I get it or just wait until I get a lower?
Posted on 2/1/13 at 4:44 pm to Drew Orleans
Wait till you get a lower, and in the mean time, you can check out other prices and possibly see what you want in an upper.

A little OT, but I get the feeling the PMAG craze is slowing. This afternoon there were lots on gunbroker with no bids and relatively reasonable starting bids. I think the wave has crested.
Carry on.
