Do you run any laser or secondary sight for close up shots? I know you hunt open fields, but I hunt food plots and tight woods.
No, 2.0 basemag takes care of that for the rare 30-50 yd encounters. We typically dont shoot closer than 75yds. I have more 150yd shots than 50 yd shots

Got the PA 3x micro installed. First impressions compared to the SLx full size prism I exchanged it for:
- Weight is 1/2 the full size (8oz vs 16oz) and very noticeable.
- Having the same issues with illumination that I had on the full size - the horseshoe isn’t evenly lit.
- Field of view is significantly larger than full size.
- Eye box feels pretty small, doesn’t take much to completely lose sight picture. Not as good as the full size.
- There’s a vertical shadow on the left that’s visible in most of the eye box. Likely due to all the wizardry needed to reduce the scope size.
Looking forward to some range time with this one. Both the micro and macro prisms seem to get rave reviews online, and the consensus seems to be the micro prism makes the full size obsolete. I’m not so sure, though.

I have several of these (different brands) on a few different guns.
All mine are more forward on the gun. Gives a quicker, easier target acquisition
Might try different different locations and see where it fits you best.

I don’t think I can go much further forward without losing FOV. Eye relief listed on this is 2.7” (which is being generous).

Your eye relief comes from your other eye.
With these types of sights you have both eyes open. On my aimpoint, I can keep the back cover closed and still get the dot on target easily.
It takes some practice, but it’s much faster and easier.

This isn’t a red dot or even a 1x prism. It’s a 3x prism, akin to an ACOG. I keep both eyes open, but the margin for error is very small on this optic compared to its big brother, and it’s almost impossible to avoid the vertical shadow from the left regardless of how far forward it’s mounted.

I completely missed that part of your post.

That's a NX8 right? Gotta upgrade that mount.
$1700 optic on a $100 Brownells mount

You still need a stripped lower.

Why?? the mount is rock solid.
why go out and spend another $600 for something that won't do any better than this mount?

They lowered the upper to $330, though, so you can get the MOE complete lower for $160 (with the upgraded polished trigger) and still come in at $490.

Yeah, still an awesome deal. I would get it but I would have to put up with my wife's anger over yet another firearm purchase.

Is it worth going to the Gonzales gun show looking for a starter AR, or better to just order something like PSA?

I'd jump on it, but have spent over 5k on gun parts this year. shite, spent that in March and April.
I'm laying low for a few months.

I went to a gun show last year and prices were double MSRP. Last gun show I'll go to
It will be hard to beat some of the deals on PSA right now

quote:Ended up ordering a Triggertech Diamond last night from Brownells last night. They were pushing their Labor Day prices and I think someone screwed up the site momentarily. It allowed me to stack promo codes so I ended up getting it for $190.00. Tried to use the same method this morning on some other items and it didn't work
Look at the triggertech trigger.
I have a Geissele and they don't compare.
I'm fully expecting an email saying my order has been canceled.
