his is a pretty long trail journal, but I enjoyed reading it alot. He talks about alot of the stuff he did while out there. He actually just finished the end of his journal. Worth the read IMO.

i love reading these trail journals...read through a ton last night and each of them make me eager to hike the AT.

Sometimes 3 times a week, sometimes none for 2-3 weeks. Usually about once a week. It's amazing.

Random acts of kindness. Crossing a road or walking the trail and stumbling upon, bbq's, beer, free rides, free place to sleep, snacks, drinks, etc. Can be as small as a honey bun or as big as a catered meal; all out of nowhere. People park in the middle of nowhere and help out hikers. The trail will rekindle your faith in the human race. The churches out there are awesome to hikers.

Are you on public land the entire time? It never crosses any private land?

I've met a lot of people in the woods and it really does show you there are good people still out there. People will bend over backwards for you if they can.

You cross private land too. Get used to walking through herds of cows.
