I probably would have just relocated the big bastard.

Not that I'm some peta person or anything, just sayin. Do what you want to w/ that snake.

I'd catch it and relocate it. Unless your kids are really young, a rat snake isn't a major threat. Non-venomous snake bites really don't hurt that bad and I seriously doubt a rat snake sees even the smallest of infants as a viable food source, so it won't be constricting anybody.

They are 4 and 6. Not small but just big enough to get into some sticky situations by themselves.

I would say that is the borderline age in which they are small enough to be in potential danger. Still unlikely, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I saw a busted bag of corn in the corner so I'm sure I do have some rats in there.

I've had a lot of fun shooting water snakes. We use a buzz bait to piss them off, and then blast them.

Don't care what you say, I like sleeping with her and that snake being on the loose was bad for business.

I agree with you. I would have killed it too, especially if it was near your children's play area.

It was a beautiful snake. Kinda hated to kill it but there were reasons. Looked like he had been doing a good job of keeping the rats away. I'm sure he won't be the last since he was certainly not the first in that building.

Did you handle it at all? The loaf of bread shape is really cool.

Not much, I had to drag him out of from under my workbench and out the front door for the picture. I picked it up once from the tail and once from the head area. The kids messed with it a little because they thought it was cool to watch the nerves react.

I don't care if its "harmless", it was in my storage building with my kids toys and where they play sometimes.

And you were afraid that since you've made them into pussies like yourself, they'd see it, have a heart attack, and fall over dead, right?

But still, watch out of rabbits in your yard. If you pick one up, it's liable to scratch you.
