Datum that's a good price for a 336c

Bear tooth merchantile sells AWESOME safety deletes for them, if the safety bothers you. I didn't like that I couldn't carry mine on my shoulder without sometimes clicking the safety off so I got rid of it with the beartooth dummy safety. Was money well spent.

Saw an ad recently for a 94, and it was almost 900.00. Was that correct? If so you can buy some unreal great guns for that money.
My premise for never owning one is why buy 1800s technology ammo when there are much better cartridges outvthere

90% of which are derived from cartridges made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. If you are using a brass cased, Boxer primed, smokeless powder cartridge then you are using 1800's technology.

Killed close to 50 with mine until I finished school and got a job and bought a 30-06 bolt. It is a sweet gun and is on the permanent will not sell list. Its known ad the dirty 30 around here.

You wont be dissapointed in performance. You might not like the style though

Well there are premium bullets available for the .30-30 but part of the beauty of the caliber is you don't need them. It doesn't make so much velocity that bullets struggle to stay together or anything. It's a very good performer on deer.

I've got a Model 94 that's been putting meat in the freezer for 50 years. The action is loose as can be, but it locks up tight and is still laying them down.

Prefer the side eject on the Marlin 336, but can't go wrong.

Marlin 35 rem

My first deer rifle. See through scope rings. Love that thing but my dad loaned it to my stepbro and I haven't see it in years.

Technically you can load .30-30 with any slick bullet you can stuff in a .308 or .30-06 case. Just have to be careful to only load two at a time in a typical lever gun.

For all those that love the .30-30, you need to try the .38-55. 255 grain bullet with no recoil.

The .35 Remington in the same action is a better caliber. Slow 200 grain bullet is better than slow 170 grain bullet.

this

My .30-30 has become a safe queen the last few decades but my .35 still sees occasional use, bring out the .45-70 every once in a while as well.

I see most people either love them or totally hate them and writethem off as being an underpowered deer gun.

Anyone here still use one?

My future FIL has used a .30-30 exclusively his whole life. He has several nice bucks on his wall, and dozens of lesser kills to his credit.

Hunting in the area around Thistlewaite, a .30-30 is almost the perfect choice.

I've read about people putting a hand loaded spitzer in the chamber and then filling the tube with regular ammo. It's a good idea but more trouble than necessary for me.

I shoot 170 core lokts outta my 3030. I’ll more than likely shoot the 200gr out of the 35. If it ain’t broke.....
