That's what it looks like most years in Spring/Summer now.
That was about 3ft of water in the living area.

We've been sleeping on cots this year.

miller man, what area of S tx and how many acres. do you mind stating what you paid. One place we hunt in the hill country they paid $86 per acre in the 1960s. Now its closer to $10K an acre in the same spot.

I dont have one, but I want to get a shipping container and spray foam insulate it. Cut some small windows in it and a door. Will be sturdy AF and damn near burglar proof if done correctly. Shipping containers can be had for cheap used.

SW McMullen Co and we paid $525/acre in 1999. The original plot was 505 acres, now we are at a little over 600.

How are people insulating these? This is always my hang up. It is so cost efficient to put these up, but then to insulate and finish to typical home standards just seems to take be back to stick construction methods.

Personal opinion is there isnt a cheaper option than a pole barn.

That said I have a friend whose trailer burned (burned down by poachers). His place is in the middle of nowhere. There was a small abandoned gas station about a half mile from his gate.

He bought it for 8k. It came with an acre of land. It had a small kitchen area and 2 bathrooms (one with a shower). They just converted the grocery side into a couple of bedrooms and they use the shop area for tractor storage.

He actually is seeing more deer now that the activity on the hunting property is reduced. And there is a family who live across the road from the store (original owners) who keep an eye on it for him.

Ours in Bayou Pigeon. Not too far away from home but feels like a whole other place when here and my Son and his friends have a blast.

That’s awesome. I’ve always wonders how folks come by the camps down off both sides of Pass a Loutre, not like you see those things on La Sportsman.

Yeah, they never come available. When someone wants to get out of one, it is spoken for by friend or friend of friend before it would hit the open market.
