Haven't put 832 on a baitcaster yet but have many years of testing it on a spinning reel, flawless

Had it happen on a few consecutive spools. Won't touch it now. I like suffix a lot more, but have been using kast king for a few years. It's a little bit thicker, but no complaints.

Never use less than 50/65 braid on baitcaster.......never.

I've found that 40lb is the magic number for me. Lower test/diameter seems to dig into the spool when a red makes a run and takes line. It's ok during the fight, but the next few casts after that need to be clear out casts to get it back right. I've even tried spooling 20 and 30 really tight and it still digs at times. 40 and 50 don't seem to dig in as much as I go with either of those in 823.

I bet the lines fine. Run a qtip through the guide. Any cracks will slice that line with no problem.

Had never tried braid until reading guys talk about it on here.

Spooled up my best Chronarch with it, and used it one day with my favorite topwater bait.

I don't know how anyone can use braid fishing topwater for trout. I have a list of complaints so long, I'm not even going to start.

Works great for topwater. Few feet of 17# mono leader keeps it out of your treble hooks. Get bite, just reel, fish hooks itself. No fish go back to walking

I quit using that stuff for the same reason. Spider Wire hasn't done that to me .

It has some quirks. I'll never switch though, I cant remember the last time I was worried about a fish breaking off. Specks, reds, snapper, bull sharks. It dont matter. It's been a very long time since I had a fish pop my line.

Eta: at least a long time since it got popped by something other than a shark.
