My Yukon has % oil life remaining indicator. Does
It measure time or miles or is there a sensor that reads oil condition?

It’s based on mileage and how it’s driven typical driving will be 10k miles. If you dog it out pulling stuff uphill and stuff high rpms then it will shave some mileage off that 10k mile set point.
There is no sensor that’s telling you the oil is bad.

Pretty sure it measures time AND miles. It also considers stop ‘n go traffic, city driving, hwy driving, oil temperature, and other variables. My wife’s Yukon only has 4mi to work, I pick her up @ lunch, & she has 4mi back home. Usually 100-150mi on the weekend. I choose to have her oil & filter changed every 6k miles. Seems to work out ok for us…

What % do y’all change at? I usually do mine between 35-20%, just depends when I have time. I change my own and it usually ends up around 7k miles.

About a month after it tells me it needs it.

Surely the dealer/parts sales has their say in the algorithm.

I shoot for somewhere between 1-3%.
I had a 2007 z71 that had 240,000miles or so when I sold it and it had been changed per the oil life monitor and it was still a strong engine.

Never have and never will rely on the percentage calculator to tell me when to change my oil. Manuals in both our vehicles say 7,500-10,000. I check dipsticks at 5k and change at 7k.
