Saw the headline and was wondering why they would do that and your post explains it perfectly.

They made around 800,000 lowers a year and they made about 15,000 uppers per month for other AR manufacturers.

So, they're collector items now?

How's Marlin since Ruger took them over?

Many Colt parts are OEMd by AO Precision out of Florida (Not Aero).
They're a major mil contractor, who also do a lot of Receivers, BCGs, etc, for other brands like Geissele.

I would really like to add a Ruger-Marlin 1895 SBL to my collection. I handled a Remlin 1895 about 10 years ago and it was not worth what the shop was asking for it. My Remlin 336 was about a $300 gun and looks/feels it though it shoots great.
