Not a whole lot to do in Samson besides chase your sister and feed pigs

What's the point of raising a pig over 400 or so pounds anyway? Just for show? I mean there's no reason to do that as far as butchering goes right?
I think over 120 is a waste. I prefer 65 lbs.

Lol at 820 lbs too. I'll give it 420, that's certainly not bigger than an elk and an 820 lb elk is big. Even if that guy is 300 lbs which he isn't that hog isn't 3 times his size.
I tend to agree with you to a point. I will say that hogs are fairly dense. IF ole baw is 3 bills, for comparison, the hog might be 550 or even 600 (a stretch, but I don't think it's impossible) - we can't really tell how broad the hog is in the front, for example.
But, 820 - not only would I have to see it, I'd have to weigh it myself to buy that.

We butcher one over 300 every year and its amazing. Of course, its not a boar but as far as while hogs go Ive eaten 200lb boars that were delicious.

This is what ear notches look like. Look at the base of the right ear.

That's not far off from the slaughter weight of commercial raised hogs. The average live weight of market hogs is 283 lbs. Typical Market Pig Today
The trend has been higher and higher weight. The game is to convert feed efficiently into meat. Genetics have improved to extend that, so hogs get bigger.
The average hog carcass weight increased from about 135 pounds in the 1950s to 206 pounds in 2012. LINK

Hog that size would have nuts the size of two hard hats side by side under its tail. Wouldn't have cutters like that either. I'd need to see pics of said nuts. I'd say that short snouted hog is domesticated. I'd say he's a barr (barrow). Fine eating

Lol, you are right. I know a guy that shot one this winter in the Florida panhandle that was a legit 400+ I can't remember exactly but it looked like it had two cantaloupes between it's legs. Absolutely absurd how big they were. I'm trying to find the pics.

He is domesticated. You can tell that because of the length of his tusk. If he was wild and fighting for rank he would have been keeping those shorter and sharper. That boar couldn't fight off anything. I good catch dog would smoke him down quickly and he couldn't fight back because those tusk are not sharp. Also you see his balls right under his tail. That isn't his other ham.
Not sure exactly what this one weighed but he maxed a 350 pound scale when his shoulder left the concrete and his head was still sideways laying in the concrete.
This one weighed exactly 402. As you can see both sets of balls don't look as big when they are hanging from their back feet as they are when they are standing. I can promise you both of these were full mature boars.

Lot of hog but no where 820 pounds worth. Maybe 280 (numbers got mixed up?) and that might be a slight stretch.

Could buy the pen hog thing. Just think the 820 lbs is a stretch.

Hog has a notch on right ear. Not a wild hog and definitely not close to 800 pounds
