im not trying to be an a-hole and this is just my opinion but if there are some hunters that hunt really hard on the lease, i wouldnt be surprised if one of your dogs was shot

Yes- I posted it to show that dogs can be a problem (the number of deaths did suprise me)
Shooting feral dogs should not be a problem. As stated previously on this board, some of the "hunting" dogs may be closer to feral than "pets".
I've know people who shot there own working dogs who did not perform well- Although I'm not endorsing it, I doubt they'd get too worked up if one of there other dogs was shot for behaving poorly. They really arent pets.
Finally, when people talk about their chow, pug, or chihuahua- where did those breeds come from? What happened to the dogs that didnt measure up? If a baby pug didnt look like a pug, it probably didnt get a chance to breed.

Your idea that a child's dog interrupts your hunt twice so therefore it must be shot is crap
As I stated it would have to be on the lease and interrupting my hunt 3 times not 2.

Um,...So if anything, you're the one that can't read

We obviously aren't ever going to agree, but you hopefully should understand that putting a child through trauma just so you can kill a deer is a little over the top.
Putting your child through trauma as the responsible parent who refuses to maintain your animal is in my opinion much worse. Wether that dog dies as a result of a truck, a predator, starvation after being lost, or a bullet the child will have the same sorrow.
The question still stands, in your opinion what is too much? How many times do you need to be inconvienced, have hunts ruined, or have property damage before you take lethal action on an otherwise non agressive dog?
If you chose to not use lethal action, what is your action plan when your neighbor continues to disrespect your requests to control their animal and the local authorities refuse to get involved?

You're splitting hairs. Forgive me for assuming a doctor could figure out that I repeating your thoughts. I guess I need to clarify that you shoot it the third time, not the second.
ETA I thought I was clearly repeating you, but I guess not.

You're still missing the point that the rest are accidents where as you go out of your way to do it on purpose.

Gonna need some examples of what you mean here? Are we talking digging holes or what? I also think certain property damage can be a form of aggression though.

I would never kill a known pet because it inconvenienced me on a hunt.

It's not that easy. A situation that the guy earlier posted about with the negligent owner and aggressive dogs, I'd shoot them. But a pet that got in my way 3 times, it's just not happening. That's very selfish on your part.
Have you had someone's pet interrupt your hunt 3 times before?
Again, I have no problems with nuisance and feral dogs. But consciously killing the pet of someone is too much just because it messes up your hobby.

You are still missing the point that the owner will never know the differenc unless it sees the dog as road kill. The owner will only know fido did not come home and thus will have the same sorrow.

So the nt he next question is what would you do? Please dont deflect this time.
I will remove variables for you:
Family pet black lab very friendly will come to anyone every time you call it waggin its tail.
Has interruppted your hunts coninuously and has been seen chasing game. You have seen much less game on your lease while on hunts do to the dog. You have repeatedly asked the owner to maintian control the animal. You have captured and returned dog several times at your expense and time. You are in a rural area with no animal shelters or pounds. You have informed the wildlife agent who told you it was not within his authority. You have informed the Sheriffs dept who told you that they have talked with the owner but can do nothing further and reminded you that you cannot legally shot an animal off of your property. You have contacted a lawyer who laughed at your suggestion that he take a case for the 2 grand you paid for your lease membership and lost invested time. The dog now thinks you are its friend and follows you to the stand and plays in the area infront of you during your hunts.

Really it should be at this point, dont deflect what do you do?

Actually, that's not the point I'm making at all. The fact that you choose to do that is similar to the cop that shot a golden retriever the other day. Pretty shitty attitude as far as I'm concerned.

If the dig is that friendly with me, looks like I just got a new hunting buddy to keep in the stand with me.
I'm not killing a pet, period. I will make due in some other way that I couldn't possibly outline here without more specifics of the situation.

I didn't deflect at all. You simply can't grasp that I will not kill a pet. I stated it several times, yet somehow I'm deflecting according to you.
Posted on 12/22/10 at 12:48 pm to Bleeding purple
And speaking of deflecting, have you had to shoot a pet?
Has one bothered you 3 times?
I personally think you're full of shite and just talking a big game but would not kill someone's pet.

Have not shot a pet on my lease.
Have put several pets down including mine, my wifes, and a neighbors, all by request and with good reason. Wept after all but the neighbors.
Currently have a pair of collared Rots running our lease and caught chasing game on cameras multiple times most often mid week near midnight. Likely hog dogs beign run on our property. Deer movement in the same areas decreases dramatically for 3 days after the dogs run.

I can grasp that you will not kill it. What you still havent answered is what you will do other than simply accept the intrusion and tolerate the inconvience and wasted money on a hunting lease due to another person abusing you through their irresponsibility.
ETA
This is the type of statement I see as defelcting "I will make due in some other way that I couldn't possibly outline here without more specifics of the situation" when the question is what will you do? What other specifics do you need? age of dogs owner? height of tree stand? month of occurance? GPS coordinates of lease? cost per member on lease? Come on man, all of the details you need to answer a simple question were already outlined.

I not only feel I have the right I know I have the right.
5) Are you for the death penalty?
Yes and I wish all violent crimes had a pre determined non negotiable punishment that was posted behind the judge just like menu choices and prices at McDonalds.
ETA more legible.

When I first saw this thread posted, I figured it would be a long one. I got out on page 1. Worth reading or same old bs back and forth?

Only if you are bored and want to burn some time. No one was going to convince anyone of a different opinion from the begining and we all knew/know it.
