Last week someone mentioned they rigged up their trail cameras with $25-$30 solar panels. What’s the process for doing this?

I have some on my Reveal cameras.

It was more than that though About $100 for each camera:

My solar panels have built in batteries. If I'm putting in direct light, such as on a pole on a powerline, I don't even put batteries in the camera.

Amazon link

The price has gone up significantly. Think I paid $30 in 2021.

Solar panels for trail cameras always contain an internal battery system. Unless you plan on building something different with a type of in-line regulator

I use Wiseye cameras, and Wiseye solar panels

Make sure whichever solar panel you get has the proper wires for your camera connection And the larger, the MAH number, the more power the solar panel internal batteries can hold.

I put a new set of the high dollar energizer AA's in my cameras before season opened this year, 1000's of wifi pictures and both of them are still going strong.

high dollar energizer AA’s

My cell cameras ran from February until the end of September on these. The price has skyrocketed, but I occasionally find a bulk pack on eBay and stock up.

ETA: some cameras have setting for alkaline vs lithium, check this so your battery indicator is accurate

I built rechargeable battery boxes for $30-$35/each. It was around $6 for plastic ammo box at Harbor Freight, $20/each for rechargeable 12V battery at Walmart, and $7/each for the wire from Herd 360 website. They have been in the woods now for 2 months. I have 2 Tactacams and 1 Wiseeye hooked up to them. The Wiseeye pictures will give you current voltage readings every picture. I have it setup with PIC+Video and it is still going strong. I have been very pleased so far. I will leave them running until probably August and bring them in for a quick re-charge and then put them back out.
