just report it missing, you're off the hook.

Unless this is an elaborate ruse on your part to be able to kill squirrels and get away with it.

Before you call to make a report, call the dealer and get the Serial Number. Then call the Police with the SN in hand. They will enter the SN in NCIC so that if they ever come into contact with the rifle and run it, it will show up as stolen. Let the people who moved you know you are entering the rifle in NCIC and it will probably be "found" under someone's truck seat.

I would report it.I had some items stolen from a barn on my place about 2 weeks ago.I called the county sheriff and he had some ideas right away.He actually was able to find my generator and sander last Friday.The thief is sitting in the county jail on 25k bond.He needed the money to buy pills.
The thief claims he was 4 wheeler riding with his young son and happened upon my barn and saw an oppurtunity.
I would report it and give them the info you posted here.
