I'll go too. Btw, how long before West Cove and Choupique will be good since Harvey?

There was a guy on LKFC that lives around Lake Charles asking about places to fish out east because he expected the area to be screwed for a bit. I have a buddy going check it out next week and I might go west the weekend after.

Ok. I'm thinking PAC or Cocodrie tomorrow if it's not too windy.

I'm hoping big lake gets right soon. Ive been wanting to try choupiqe bayou and west cove. Pac is nice but that drive is a little much for a 1 day trip.

I'm on call this weekend and am supposed to help a buddy convert his single kayak trailer into a dual kayak trailer. Next weekend though I was thinking about either Choupique or West Cove depending on the reports I get during the week.

Me too
I'll start posting in here whenever me and no8 go, we can try to make some meet-ups happen.
Fall is upon us... fishing bout to get right
What kind of footwear do y'all use when it's cool outside?

I see people pedaling with neoprene socks. I actually haven't been when it's real cold. I'll be in a deer stand if it's cold.

I fish hwy1 pretty often when it's cold, trout get tick tick in those ponds.. never in a yak though. Was wondering how I'd manage being in there without dying of hypothermia and wet feet.

Depending how cold, I'll sometimes just wear my water shoes like normal and keep my scupper plugs in and the only time my feet might get wet is when I get in/out the boat and I'm fine throughout the day. I've also worn rubber boots with a pair of thick socks and been fine also. I'm not a fan of wearing waders because standing up in a kayak to take a piss and having to deal with waders presents a challenge that would surely have my dumbass stumble and fall out.
Coldest I ever kayak fished was a tournament at Cypremort Point last year, it was in the 30's at launch time. I worn my rubber boots with a couple pairs of thick socks, Under Armor base layer, my waterproof fishing pants, and my duck hunting jacket and I was good all day long. I also rented a PA12 for that one because I didn't want to deal with wet hands while paddling.

shite that's gotta be tough lol

It really wasn't bad, conditions were pretty terrible though, I caught one trout and I think there was around 15 trout weighed for the whole tournament, it was a 5 trout stringer for everyone.

Where do you put it at the pernt when fishing the cove?
Posted on 9/8/17 at 10:09 am to Uncle JackD
By the fishing pier, there's a little spot that you can slip a kayak down, cross the canal and go right to the Cove. The tournament makes you launch at the sailboat launch though.

Is Eddie selling your Ginger Avenger lure?

sailboat launch though.

Yea, he hasn't placed an order in a bit so I'd imagine they're running a little low.

When you enter the state park, take the road to the right all the way down to the end. That little area is what the park calls the sailboat launch, looks like that's where you've been launching at actually.

Some of my best fishing is winter time when it's cold. When those water temps hit 58-60 degrees once the sun comes up it's on. Trout limits are easy and you can catch some studs. Love topwater that time of year on the flats

Agreed, I don't hunt, so I typically look forward to fishing in the cooler months because it keeps crowds away.
