Love squirrel hunting and my daughter loves eating them grilled like chicken

I live in GA, squirrel season started in August and I have squirrels all over my property. The thing that keeps me from harvesting them is people say "not a lot of meat and a lot of bones." Is this true? What do you guys do to cook them? I literally have to dodge squirrels with my car every morning for work

Yes. True

Make a gravy with them, serve over rice. Just watch out for the little bones when you eat. They make a tasty gravy.

Do they still close the schools the Friday before squirrel season? Nobody believed me when I told them how serious we were in Evangeline Parish about squirrel season.

Private schools and daycares are closed today for "Budget Day".

Public school haven't taken Squirrel Day in about 12 years. Thanks Obama

when I was a kid we had a camp way out in the woods, every opening weekend my dad , my uncle and I would spend the weekend tree rat hunting. It was a blast.

Unfortunately I will not be there this weekend

I'll be back in the swamp exploring new areas. Lost my squirrel area this year.

May be an off the wall question, I see everyone here is planning on going this weekend. And I would like to as well. But I've always heard to not hunt them until after the first freeze. Anyone know of any truth to this?
