I'm not gonna claim to be an expert on venice but if you're catching red snapper while targeting tuna you may be doing it wrong.

Going this weekend...3 to 6ft seas. How is fishing in February?

me in my younger days would say it all depends upon what kind of boat you will be on. 42' cat, and you will be fine.

in my old age.....reschedule, or bring extra beverages for sitting in a rocking chair on the dock.

tuna have been very hit and miss recently. 10 40 lb yellowfin one day. next day, one 180 lber. nothing the next day.

I’m starting to think that the tuna are being overfished. The last three years have been bad.

do not necessarily disagree with you. i will say that while we are spoiled with the best fishing in the world, the pressure on that fishery is grown exponentially.

You ever chummed the lump for a tuna? Some of the biggest snapper I’ve seen came off the lump.

I think this year will be pretty good. Better than the last 2-3 for sure. We had 12 yft a few weeks ago and my buddy had 16 the other day.

Don’t necessarily disagree they are overfished though. The limit needs to drop down to 2/person. I don’t think you’d hear anyone complain about that.

Caught 18 on an overnighter this week, and could have filled the boat up. The fish are out there, but the MS and atchafalaya river water has made consistently targeting them tough.

We left out of Pass Christian in a sport fisher. Still, when the tuna bite is on we end up in same places as the boats from Venice.

My favorite captain. However, unless he got a new boat that 36 contender will not be a pleasant ride in those seas.

Not to mention how much it'll be rocking while trolling.

Fishing with Eddie in February = Cold, Wet and Miserable. If it is forecast 6-8' Eddie won't be leaving the dock. If so make sure you have some real good foul weather gear because you will be soaked in that Contender.

We went both Saturday and today. Seas were bad Saturday but we don’t have vaginas so we went. We caught wahoo and tuna. We had a 130lb yellowfin today. Eddie was great. Not the best looking boat but he gets it done. You can tell he is very well respected out there.

I was at Venice Marina Saturday afternoon. Never saw a single charter boat unload any tuna. Saw some wahoo getting unloaded and cleaned.
Glad y’all caught a few.
As suggested here, the wind was howling Friday and Saturday.
