Coastal/salt water environment. Bottom side of truck looked a bit rough corrosion wise. Commercial undercoatings looked a bit like snake oil.

I have used corrosion x as a spot treatment on boats and motor for a long time and like the way it soaks in and dries a bit pliant. Using the extra heavy X, It took 4 spray cans to cover every thing in site underneath.

next time…

save your dirty oil from an oil change.
mix 1/2 & 1/2 with diesel
spray everything down using a steel barrel sprayer (get it at any construction supply place)

respray as needed

If corrosion has started there ain't no stopping it, you might slow it down but it's done for

I have been using Corrosion X for a long time. Very interesting that you are trying it under a truck.

If you do this from new and spray everything underneath (frame, axles, body, etc) it'll be bomb proof.

The problem I have is boat launches. Half of the salt water launches in this state have standing salt water all over the place at high tide.

I wonder if I can soak my flooded/rusted tools in that solution....what do you think?

If they are hand tools you are better off using Evaporust.

This used to be the go to method. If you really wanted another layer of protection you'd spray it down, drive 5 miles on a dusty arse road. spray it again and repeat 3 or more times. a layer of oil, dirt, oil, dirt, oil, dirt and a top coat of oil will last a LONG time. At one time I bet there wasn't a handfull of trucks on Galveston that did not have 3-4 layers of oil and dirt underneath them....
