Headed south for early white wing and all I’ve got are morning dove now

FML

Was down a couple of weeks ago and had a good mix so figured I could scratch out a limit or two. That’s why I never come down until opening day of dove season but I was getting the itch sitting at home.

I’m hauling arse to my bothers in Palito to see what we have there. Hopefully at least a few white wing cause I’ve got any itchy trigger finger.

If not I’ll try and bust a pig tonight.

They ended up all being at my brothers place. Shot 2 limits in 45 min.

Just started flying real well around 5:15.

Damn I had no idea Texas had different seasons for each. That would require some serious paying attention

No season for white wing I think. They’re invasive.

There is a season for white wing. Once regular dove season starts you can kill either morning or white wing to get your 15 limit.

I’m in the South Zone so the regular dove season does not open until two weeks after the rest of the state.

South zone has a special white wing season where you can hunt noon to sunset Friday-Sunday this weekend and next. You can kill 15 white wing or 13 white wing and 2 mourning dove. They give you a couple of mistakes because it’s bound to happen. We tried like heck to not kill any morning but the first bird my brother shot was a morning.

We shot 29 white wing, 1 morning and a ringneck.
