This should be an OT thread.

I got 4” and 35s on my 2020 z71 and it looks good only because these trucks come sitting so low from factory.
Also something to consider is that 33s aren’t 33s any more and 35 is going be closer to 33”. I prefer to run metric LT tires that are taller and skinnier. Get a lot of miles out of 10plys on a 1500 and f you don’t mind a little rougher ride.

As a big guy who uses his truck my stock f250 is too damn tall. If you use your truck like i use mine and am in and out the bed it'll piss you off.

Drop the arse end 2" to level it.

Stay stock. Get some BFG KOs if you want a more aggressive look.

They truck will thank you long term.

Your gas mileage will thank you.

Your kids will.

You using it daily will thank you.

My 94 Z71 stock height too ke everywhere and anywhere. Up hills in Alabama. Up boat launches. Everywhere.

The sizes of trucks over the last thirty years is stupid.

I tried to lower my f250 but the solid front axle limits me. I need the 4wd

I've been thinking of leveling/lifting my wife's suburban z71.

Parked next to one that was probably a 2 inch level and it looked so much better.

I run a 3 inch "lift" in the front with bilstein 6100s and dirtking arms.

One inch lift in the rear.

Currently running 275/70r18.

Just ordered a set of mickey thompson baja legends in 295/70r18

Not so much bigger, as wanted the snow certification on the side.

it very much depends on the vehicle, but for me the right answer is 33's or 35's

So I stopped by my local shop guy who occasionally does repair work for me. Super sharp guy who’s certified to work on just about anything you can name

He said for what I want, if it was his truck he’d install these Bilstein B8 5100 adjustable front shock set

He said he could adjust the front up 2in to level the truck and could possibly even improve the ride over factory. But obviously there’s multiple ways to skin a cat

And still trying to sort the tire situation. Opinions seem to be all over the place on a decent looking sub $400 tire that isn’t annoyingly loud

I would put a top hat spacer on the 5100 rather than using the 5100 adjustability for the lift.

Compressing a spring to gain lift height sacrifices ride.

Street rays out of texas has made in USA top hat spacers for under 50 bucks.

I’ll mention that to him, thanks. He seemed to think that the shocks would be lesser enough than maxed out that they’d have plenty left for ride. But what you’re saying certainly makes sense

A lot of different takes on lift methods. I’d seen a ton of forum posts that raved about different Rough Country kits, but he seemed to think RC was complete garbage. But obviously there are snobs about anything you do lol

The RC are fine for 30k miles or so.

The bilsteins will ride firm.

Icon usually rides the best.

I buy bilsteins. Why? I randomly jump things, I have zero interest in ever rebuilding them.

My last two sets made it to 150k miles and 200k miles without breaking.

Idk your budget but b8 8112s for your truck can handle whoops and ride great. Most people don't need that

Mine looks like a paw paw truck, but I can jump a set of railroad tracks at 65 and not really care.

Leveling kit with 33” Toyo Open Country AT3.

At3 is quiet and rides good. Also very durable.

Couple quick follow up questions, if the board wouldn’t mind

First I ended up going with this kit here. LINK

ReadyLIFT SST Lift Kit and Bilstein 5100 Shocks for 2019-2022 Ram 1500 4WD 2WD | Provides 3.5 Inch Front, 2 Inch Rear Lift, 35 Inch Max Tires

So, I live in a very rural area (5k ppl) and trying to find one of these local shops for the install. Anybody shoot me a (roughly) fair price what labor should run? I know it’s clearly going to vary, just a ballpark. Should be a 2hr job huh?

Second, I think I’ve narrowed it down to the ridge grappler and the Toyo AT3 in a 35/12.50/20. Ordering on prime I can save close to 200 bucks on the nittos. So it’s close enough to just go with the better tire. Again, just wanting something all terrain that’s fairly quiet that I can damn well get my $2k out of if I keep them rotated right lol

Thanks again baws

Oh and I didn’t catch this the first time around..

11.50 width instead of 12.5 makes a big difference

Just curious the reasoning behind this?

2” lift.
LT285/60R20 are stock tires. BFGoodrich BAJA AT are a good tire. Quiet on the road and good traction off the road.
Does it have running boards? They help.

I have the Nitto RGs on our Unlimited Wrangler. over 70k miles and plenty of tread. They have aged out (7yrs) and are getting squirrelly in the wet. (35s)

Preferred over BFG AT KO2s and KM2s (33in) that I had on another Jeep.

Will likely replace with Toyo RT Trail. A bit lighter than the Nittos.

Weight and rolling resistance. 11.5s are the way to go IMHO

I did the 3" front, 1" rear and 35 KO2s on my Tundra. Absolutely love the look. 35's definitely drop the gas mileage though.

This is the answer. I have a Silverado 2500hd. I hate the way they look stock, and I didn’t want to spend thousands to lift/level it correctly. So I dropped the back 2” and put 35’s. It sits level, still gets over 20mpg (tuned/deleted), and my front end parts last like a normal truck on LA roads.

My front window is at my height and I'm 6'3" It barely fits in parking garages so I'd say whatever height that is. I'd guess iy's about a foot off the ground

OK maybe its more 3 feet, hard to tell with the running boards.
