I killed my biggest wearing blue jeans and a short sleeve t shirt from a bar in Florida. Out of a tripod that had no wrap on it, on a really hot day at about 3 in the evening.
With deer, be still, and nothing else matters. Almost all of my hunting clothes are solid colors because they're often a little cheaper than the patterned stuff. It seems to work just fine for duck hunting as well.

The only reason I buy new hunting clothes is because I’ve gained weight, and then it’s usually whatever pattern is the cheapest.

I match mine but I don't find it increases my kill rate. I just like to match, I guess

Sir, you should know that no one has ever killed a duck in the history of the world without wearing face paint and completely matching camo (including the dog).

I went on a trip to Arkansas a few years ago for a bachelor party. It was a goose and duck hunt. I did not even own a matching set much less wear a matching set. I was the only guy that was not wearing sitka and got roasted mercilessly, and was called "game winner" or "magellan" for my mismatched gear.
So to spite them all I splurge on some hunting gear, but spent my hard earned money on some Kuiu, I will never spend a dime on Sitka after that trip lol.
I wear my Kuiu gear but still mismatch pretty much every hunt, it dont make one difference.
We had a great time, and no face paint was harmed on the trip.

I purposely mismatch my pants and shirt/jacket. Feel like it breaks me up more. But I'm usually wearing a leafy jacket and hat most of the time, anyway.

Welcome to the 1980’s.
I recently found a picture on Christmas morning circa 1985 when I was 13 sporting my Walls camo coveralls Santa brought me.

A few years back I was invited to a hunt on the Louisiana/Mississippi border above St Francisville. The first day I got there I rode around with the groundskeepers, helping them fill feeders and we hung a couple of lock ons.
Everywhere we went there were deer. We pulled into food plots with the cart and deer would run into the woods, but stay close enough to where we could still see them. Everyone with us was in plain clothes. One of the guys with us made a comment, “I think the deer are more spooked when you wear camouflage, because all they see is a floating head and hands. When you wear regular clothes they see your whole body and aren’t as afraid”.
And he was serious.
It was an awesome place, though.

I’m a nerd. I have a real tree APg set, an under Armour forest set, and a first lite set. All in bags sorted for temp stored in a sealed scent free box. I get up, get showered and just pick a bag.

I mean, sorta? If I buy First Lite stuff in a camo pattern, it’s typically fusion, though I do have a couple things in specter. All my Kuiu is Verde.
Now, I may wear both at the same time, depending on the weather. Or just wear dark solid colors if I plan to sit in a blind or box all day.

Carhartt’s and Berber fleece. Only wear matching full camo for turkeys.

I do not wear camo any more. Makes zero sense for deer.
especially when I blast them from 300 yds while sitting in my truck.

I don’t “have to” but I have the Kuiu axis hybrid set and it looks fiya. Look good, feel good, play good.
But I also hunted in work shorts, t-shirt and a climbing harness in October and killed deer.
The weather dictates what I wear more than any style tendencies.

My Vietnam tiger stripes are hard to match, some of em’ are almost white and fairly brittle.

I got in some tight situations having to shite wearing coveralls and waders while duck hunting as a lad.

Only set I have that matches is my bibs and big jacket. I bought them at end year few years ago when Academy has sale. That 50% off at end of year is gold. Waiting on it this year to buy new duck jacket to keep at camp.

Them "Shooters" have to look good for photo sessions of the bigun they shot over corn from the treehouse.

I’ve worn handed down mismatched camo from my father my entire life. Tired of looking like a snow man with 4 layers on and bought a Non-typical drake jacket, and let me tell you it’s a game changer.
I like bottomland and buy it when possible, but as of now the new jacket is bottomland, and the bottomland pants I bought were too loud, so returning them and getting the matching non-typical pants because I like the material, but they don’t have bottomland. So the brand and style will match, but different camos.
