Calm seas and 10 nice ones out of south pass, not many boats

We went yesterday and there were not too many boats. Most we saw at any rig was 3, of course the one we went to first where we caught them all last year was the one with 3, so we went to the next one and still did just fine.

I didn't go snapper fishing but I did launch out of Fourchon public Launch and ran out of Belle Pass to Fish on Fourchon Beach. Parking lot was about 3/4 full.

I caught 3 fatties on my first 3 drops. Back in, boat gassed and washed and 12 dish cleaned by noon yesterday. Bad news is we ran into some of the equally endangered sharks, last year it was nearly the end of June before those SOB’s showed up.

Had 15 Nice trout, 3 Spanish Macs and 2 Whiting. I ran out of live shrimp at 8:30 that's all they wanted.
I broke a handle on my cooler, how do i get a replacement.

One of those rope handles? I think you can recreate that at a hardware store for about $3
I have a box of plugs and latches if you need those.

Most of it public information. There is a bunch of ships that were sink by uboats
The problem is most of the reported coordinates have a Positional Accuracy of poor or low so you could easily be several miles off. The trick is to get info from several sources and when when coordinates are fairly close together begin a search.
One source I found very helpful are hang books which are locations where shrimpers tore their nets or got hung up.
We went out and fished the Gallagher and Hamlet wrecks in the SS area.
5 of us and we keep 10 snapper. Anything smaller than 12 lbs. was released. It took about 20 minutes then on to sword fish waters.

Went Friday southeast of pecan island and slammed them. 4 man Limit within an hour of fishing. Sat we didn’t go. Sunday went to same spot, was on our way to a 7 person limit until one of our guys got sick bad. We were fighting 6-7 footers the whole time. Finished with 9. All but two were between 18-22 lbs. was a great weekend

We caught a limit of yellowfin tuna Thursday night and then picked up our snapper on the way in Friday morning

First snapper trip I have been skunked in at least 20 years maybe ever. I just don’t remember.
Went Monday am out of Dauphin Island hoping for better seas with a crew of 5. All charter boat people. Had every bait possible, chum, chum churn, snapper slappers etc. We had to be in by 3pm
as one guy had sunset charter, so didn’t have time to hit my private spots but thought we could catch fish easy.
Seas were 3/4 all day and sucked. Good current but was in same direction as wind so made drifts difficult. Went to Sims tank area and fished with other 200 boats (75 foot ). Marked tons of fish but they had lock jaw. Caught about half a dozen small snapper, one king, some small triggers etc. We were often fishing right on top of other boats, no one was a Dick etc, so no goula fisherman around.
Never saw anyone catch a legal snapper all day. Saw a bunch of dolphin hanging around.
Snapper were mostly hanging on bottom. Not sure if they became hook shy, were just nit hungry, or dolphin spooked them but I am done with thus derby bullshite. There were 2 to 3 boats on every public reef. Guy knocked over 500 dollar rod and reel that was on gunnel then other guy yelled at me blaming me fir bringing too many rods and reels on my own fricking boat for 20 minutes until he realized it was mine. Boat performance etc was great.
If I can’t get out 30-40 miles and away from the mob I am doing something else. Hell I don’t even eat the damn things

I just got back from an opening day snapper charter out of Destin. Much the same. Six of us ended up with 12 nice snapper, but it took a ton of work. Seas were rough. Solid 3-4 foot all day.
The fish were marking good, but they would not bite. The Captain would mark fish 80 feet down, and we would drop live herring down to them and not a bite. We would then go all the way to the bottom (about 180 feet) and then we would get one or two good bites per spot. But the dolphins were terrible, taking most of our fish. Then the sharks moved in.
We would grind out one or two fish in about 20-30 mins, then make a 10 min move. Then grind out one more fish. Rinse and repeat all day.
By noon the kids were puking, hot, and worn out. But we finally got our 12th fish in the boat. It was a fricking grind.
Never caught a Jack. Never caught a Grouper. Basically a tough day.

We usually use pogie and they seem to love it
Of course we have tons of pogie in our waters. Not sure if they’re as prevalent off of destin

Your trip out of Destin sounds very similar to last year but we managed to limit out but it was hard
