re: Why did they take down the guide thread

and they only caught 6 reds and 1 trout fishing to 2:30. The OP had his son in town and the OP has health issues so he arranges to have steroid shots to allow him to fish and spend time with his son sight fishing for reds that didn't happen. All the other guides came to the dock with limits of fish.

Day 3 he names the guide and the OB start hammering his reviews on facebook and locate his prior run ins with the law. Day 4 the guide contacts back to the OP wanting the dogs to be called off
I missed all of that.
I was needing closure as I had something similar happen to me a few years ago on a 2 day duck hunt. We went on an Arkansas duck hunt and were taken to a pit in a rice field on day 1. We killed mallards, pintails, teal, specks and snows. Awesome hunt.
That afternoon they tell us they are taking us on a "sporty diver shoot" in the morning. We assume they are joking since the first hunt was great. The next morning they take us on a hunt and we shoot 10 jacks between 4 people and a guide on a retention pond right behind the camp.

Which thread? not on the IFA page?
Its still on IFA FB page, but the TD thread that was linked on FB was whacked

I never saw the IFA page. I tell you I fished them it's tough to win but most winners are guided. So I guess check the calendar before you book fishing trips because redfishing has taken over and most guides fish them. It's an addiction

Cliffs? I missed the whole thing.
It was like the green jean trespasser yrs back.

Sounds like someone has taken this too far and owes the Guide a couple of OB Coozies to smooth things over.

He gets none. You don't screw a fellow OBer and get koozies. Congrats on winning cause I know the field is tough. But before he booked the trip knew his schedule he just wanted easy money

And not wait until he was on his way. The guide knew he was going fish that tourn the night before.

Charter guides need to learn a lesson on professionalism and responsibilities in this experience. It was a fricked up thing to do and I have no issues with him being outed

I grew up where a handshake and/or a man's word was something you could stand on. That's disappearing.

taken this too far
That's why I requested the delete. The guy's tournament partner and other people not at fault were getting dragged into it, as well as delving too far into the guy's past. He screwed up, he apologized, and he made it right by offering a free trip (which I declined for various reasons), then a refund value that I suggested and was happy with. I was satisfied with the outcome. He may have deserved the recompense and a few bad reviews, but taking it to a level that bordered on completely destroying the guy's livelihood over one fishing trip was maybe a tad overboard.

Exactly which is why I believe OB Coozies are in store for everyone involved.

You guys that think things got out of hand remind me of the "Every kid gets a trophy" committee. I have absolutely zero sympathy for a grown man that handles his life and his business the way this guide has. I'm old school, but I think this guy showed what kind of human being he was destined to be when he sucker punched a homeless man. He essentially sucker punched the OP when he screwed him over on this trip. We're talking a guy with health issues that had to get an injection for pain to even go on this trip with his son. He had EVERY right to post what he did. I applaud him for it. I would bet my bottom dollar that this type of behavior is a pattern with this guy. Maybe I missed something, but I followed this thread for quite a while and I don't recall seeing even one post defending this guy as a good human being. What transpired on the OB won't change him as a person. You can't change a leopard's spots as they say. But it may keep him from sucker punching someone else. As far as poochie's comments go, like the one about the OP starting this "crusade", the OP didn't start anything. The guide started this and should be held totally accountable. No one else. If it costs him his livelihood, so be it. He will probably just move to Texas to escape his reputation again. There's a ton of pricks that guide in Texas. He will fit right in.

I agree Tigerhead.
I happen to work in an industry where we take customers at their word when they order a product. Our products are non-returnable, it's just the nature of the biz.
You get to know people quickly when they do, or don't do, what they said they will, especially when things get tough.
This wasn't even a tough situation. All he had to do was make a phone call and give the guy a couple options. He took the coward's way out. Had his lackey break the bad news at the very last second, and then subject his customer to a sub par day on the water, because he put his own interests first.
If it wasn't for internet arm-twisting, I highly doubt there would've been a refund or apology.
And why poochie wants to tie himself to this guy baffles me.
