That's exactly where I was staying. Watched the Coast Guard chopper search for the missing child from my balcony. Saw the mother collapse and others try to console her. Many prayers to that family.

What a terrible vacation.

Saturday night at 1 am I was awakened to someone banging on our condo door, screaming "FIRE!, Evacuate the building." We had to get up, no electricity, and get down 10 flights of stairs with my 7 1/2 month pregnant wife (freaking out), my 75 year old Grandmaw and Grandpaw, and my Dad who is paralyzed on his left side.

We get outside and the wind is blowing 75mph amidst a tornado warning. After sitting outside for over an hour, they opened the club house for us. Me and my wife had no shoes, no medicine or food/drinks for the old people. My Dad and Grandpaw didn't even have their glasses, so they were pretty much blind. Several people had babies. It was terrible. Around 4am they got us into another room in another building.

They originally told us we wouldn't be able to go back into our rooms for at least a week, until the fire marshall approved the building (which wasn't going to happen, since no alarms went off and no emergency lights came on). Eventually we got them to let us back up.

My Mom stays there for the entire month of September. Her family goes one week, her and my Dad one week, Her and her girlfriends another week, and then she spends a week by herself. So, she had a month of stuff in that room. We were able to move it all to another unit they relocated us to (smaller unit).

Then yesterday, this happened. I packed my stuff up and headed home, right into TS Lee (fortunately we made it home with no bad weather).

Terrible vacation, but am just happy we were all safe and sound, and that me and my wife are back home in the comfort of our own home.
