Abdul Qadeer Khan - he stole technology from the netherlands and also gave it/sold it to NK, Iran and Libya. and the Chinese helped them with missile technology.

I spent a couple weeks in Lahore Pakistan about 30 years ago

Place was badly over run with opium addicts from Afghan. really bad.

2nd amendment was in full force, everyone had a visible gun

Pollution was worst in world, clothes turned black from dust

Kim's cannon was proudly on display

On a street corner, guys with a typewriter were set up to provide resumes on demand

Gardens of Shalimare and a very old mosque were interesting to see

Some things dont change:

quote:

HOW BAD IS LAHORE'S AIR QUALITY? Swiss group IQAir, which draws data from 14 regional monitoring stations, rated Lahore the world's most polluted city on Wednesday, with an air quality index (AQI) score of 1165, more than 120 times the levels recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

I listen to BBC, its the only talk radio here, when Im driving around for work. They have had segments on the place, terrible listening to normal people, like the guy biking a pedal cab in that mess. Said its killing him but the family has to eat.

The latter. Tribalism. The Pashtuns are the majority in Afghanistan and they make up the vast majority of the Taliban fighters. Pashtuns are in the minority in Pakistan, but are still a substantial (20%) part of its population and are at odds with the government and the military.

The same Taliban that kicked out the Russians and held the US military at bay for 20+ years?

Since I doubt the Pakis intend to seize and hold territory, it negates the homefield advantage that the Taliban have. They'll have to come down out of the mountains to mount any sort of real assault in Pakistan and it's also incredibly doubtful that the Pakis will have any sort of restrictive ROE to adhere to. Taliban on an open battlefield are fricked, they are a guerilla force that need home field advantage.

Having said that, the Pakis should prepare for an onslaught of snackbar suicide bombings in their cities. After the shite the Pakis pulled during our time in Afghanistan, specifically ISI, I say good luck to them.

we already purposely left a military grade arsenal and equipment.

nobody ever really talks about the real reasoning behind the Afghan Withdrawal.

Everyone likes to say “look how stupid our politicians are”, BUT, maybe they are not stupid, but rather CALCULATED in favor of our enemies that they created!

they are never stupid, but they are VERY WICKED & they use our money to manipulate the entire world and global structures.

I think the Taliban have a better chance of overthrowing the Pakistani government than Pakistan has of winning this war in a meaningful way.

quote:and held the US military at bay for 20+ years? This is cute. When the DOD has tight ROE’s and the Taliban pop shot from a tree line then drive off on a scooter there isn’t much you can do. It’s not that we weren’t capable we were highly restricted and became an occupying force.

This we played not to run up the score - and should have played by Comanche rules or pages from the art of war….

Make your enemy never want to fight you again, remove their will and means to fight…..

“Muslims killing other muslims, what is the solution?”

What the frick, why does there need to be a solution? This has been in existence since the inception of Islam. There is no solution.

As I understand it, the Taliban infiltrated the Pakistani military a long time ago.

As such, I’m not so bullish on Pakistan in this instance.
