I don’t think it should be a requirement for teachers to have firearms access, but if a teacher is trained and wants to carry I think they should have that right.

I know several schools in Arkansas that paid for training and for the firearms that teachers carry.

Schools should be hard targets, really every where should be a hard target. You do that with also locking up the mentally ill again and this disappears

Sure. Ok then, is fairy more appropriate?

So you're clearly not concerned with the issue, by your words. (Kind of disturbing, in itself)
But it concerns you enough to argue about it. Makes sense.

Mental health is your answer. All our kids need is shrinks. Yeah, 30 years ago, we found out how much that doesn't work. Everybody and their brother and sister were going to shrinks. Look where that got us now.
You're just one big ball of confusion, aren't you?

I'm talking about kids who are bringing guns to school, and leaving them in their cars, in case a shooter event happens.
Or kids that don't want to go to school, if there's a shooter. Or parents that didn't want to send their kids to school because of a shooter.
Put some numbers on this anecdotal stupidity.

The only kids afraid to go to school for such are the types of snowflakes you likely rail on about all the time. Schools are the safest place for kids to be.

Aren't you aware that the antigun lobby is a multimillion dollar industry that robs us of our rights? And how much they profit from these events? Or do you not care about that either?
What? There's profit to me made off of school shootings?

We should make it very difficult for outside persons to gain access to the students
What does this mean in practical reality?

Because the ACTUAL reality of the risk is very very very very low. School shootings should be like 50th on the list of concerns we have around our schools.

Again, probably none of you think twice about the risks of driving to and from school. Or the risks of eating nasty slop in the cafeteria, day in and day out.

A lot of you now demanding spending tons of money to turn schools into prisons to address a risk that is already vanishingly low are probably also the ones constantly pissed off that football has been "pussified" or that kids are encouraged to wear helmets while biking now.

Not seeing what's going on in the bigger picture, just the symptom, aren't you?
Rather just stick your head in the sand and just say it's not that big of an issue?

If you want numbers, which seems to be what you see, go do the surveys yourself. Am I your mommy? No I'm not.

Yup. You're a bubble boy. Did you attend private school, or homeschooled?

This isn’t a teacher’s job. If you’re advocating for trained martial artists in every classroom, then call them that. An elementary school teacher should not be forced to be trained as a soldier to be an elementary school teacher. That’s ridiculous

I also mentioned in a previous post that teachers should receive high level training in mental health, de-escalation skills, recognizing troubled youths, etc., not only in gun training.

Ridiculous???? Apart from school shootings, how long before you think some terrorist group might send an armed team of terrorists to several different schools in different areas and kill as many students as possible????
Seems likely considering the number of terrorists Biden has allowed into our nation and would be the shock values and headlines terrorists seek.

Additionally, our teachers should be better trained, screened, and compensated. Period.

What's your stance on doing away with gun free zones? I went to school with a guy that is an SRO now. Totally against respecting the constitutional rights of citizens.

Gun-free zones are bullshite. They don't prevent crime. Only the law-abiding give a shite about those signs.
