Ask our leaders in both parties who all felt Saddam threatened our national security.

Maybe we felt he was dangerous because he used chemical weapons, maybe because he launched wars against his neighbors, or maybe because we felt he could enable AQ and other groups to harm our interests.

And you really can't say now that he wouldn't have done things to harm us can you?

I have their answer...I want yours.

Once again the AQ connection...that did not exist...Saddam was secular...he hated religious nutjobs as much as you do.

Sure...not one thing. He was isolated. He could barely move in his own country...his army was a joke...his air force non-existent...he could do not one thing to the United States.

I knew that then.

I know that now.

That's what Sheriff Joe said during the debates, wasn't it? Birds of a feather...

I suppose in comparison to Biden&rob, Palin can fuse hydrogen atoms with her mental powers. You have to be willfully ignorant when you consider the scale of illegal drugs and humans who are smuggled into this country.

I bet you knew that Afghanistsn couldn't hurt us either until 9/11.

At the time I felt Saddam was a very dangerous person. I felt he was capable of just about anything.

So did two presidents.

Hindsight is 20 20.

We now know Saddam didn't have all these dangerous WMDs. We now know after we invaded he was neutralized too.

There's no way to know what could have happened if Saddam was left alone, but we do know our homeland was not subject to something he may have help orchestrate and our oil supplies have been maintained.

Unlike OBL who had a totally tricked out army and air force.

Afghanistan didn't hurt us in 9/11. A group of mostly Saudi Arabians did.

Surely you knew that correct?

lol..really...a despot in the middle of a 3rd world country was capable of doing anything to this country.

And no only one...the other president kept him in his place through the use of an occasional tomahawk missile and air strikes. It's called measured response to the threat.

How wonderful for the families of the maimed and dead Americans.

Once again the trip to fantasy island..."He may have" is not justification to invade another nation.

At least you admit all you car about is oil.

A small group of terrorist not aligned with any nation moving under the radar is an intelligence failure.

A 3rd world nation which we have under surveillance 24 hours a day...a bit different.

Well said. We have been needing a kinder, gentler military.

AQ was using Afghanistsn as a base to train, plan, and kill Americans.
Sure Afghanistan hurt us.

Libya and Kadafi did too.

Saddam tried by invading Kuwait jeopardizing our oil supplies .

You don't have to have a huge military to harm. 16 guys on planes killed thousands.

Yea, we conquered both of those nations with little effort and minimal loss of life.

Liberals always see things in a strange light.

Just like Professor Churchill.

Capital and access to resources = freedom in the modern world. Realities of life that grown ups must factor while making decisions. Feelings...notsomuch,

Explain to me again how Saddam was a threat to the United States in any way.

He wasn't. The invasion of Iraq had been mapped out by neocons back in the 90's. Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bill Kristol and that crew had W's ear after 9-11. It just provided the perfect opportunity to link Saddam and Iraq to a being a direct terror threat to the US. It was all bullshite.

Exactly, Sadam was proven to be a harmless dictator unless if course you were a Kurd, an Iranian, a Kuwaiti, and he was a threat to no one.

If left alone he probably would have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Those neo cons fooled us all into thinking Saddam was a bad guy who might work with terrorists. Shame on them.
