A perfect example of why we shouldn't give much of a frick about other country's opinions. They don't give a frick about us.

WW2. Did not start until September 1939. So he is factually incorrect. The US. Also started sending supplies to England and France in 1940 under the lend lease act

While we played a huge role in WWII, I find Americans tend to overblow this as it pertains to WWI. The French and British had been fighting and dying for years before we showed up with a green fighting force and helped push things over the edge. To downplay French and British effort during WWI is a historical absurdity.

Agree. But remember, we sent people over to die FOR them while their where defending THEIR homeland.

But the ambassador referenced the French resistance to facism in the 30s. Sorry, but that is bullshite and if I was a brit I would be indignant that he dare put his surrender monkey of a nation in the same category as mine.

Been reading a bio of Churchill recently. The French really screwed the UK (and themselves) over in WWII. The US and the UK really did have to rescue their arse.

Oh and Churchill is the GOAT

We should remember that France gave up their entire nation after 1/4 of it was invaded. Then many French fought on the axis side.

We should have never ever let France reclaim it's colonies, would have spared us from Vietnam.

No. Vichy French were content with their German overlords.

The overwhelming majority of Americans did not want to get involved in another European War after the disaster of WWI where mothers lost their sons and everyone asked, what are we doing over there...it was between France and Germany.

Despite FDR's lobbying, the public was having none of it. FDR wanted to expand our influence and future strongholds in Europe.

He used Pearl Harbor for that purpose.

Without us France, the UK, and even Russia would probably be speaking German today. Yes France fought and got stomped and the UK put up a good fight, being an island helped of course. We were supplying Stalin and our bombing campaign along with the UK helped to cripple the Germans.

This shite legitimately angers me. I hope the ghosts of dead Marines in belleau woods rise up and shank his arse to remind him what the US has done for France over the years.

And the French teamed up with and fought alongside said fascist powers, "la resistance" notwithstanding.

"we aint missin all the frickin fun" they left that part out.

This was actually where Marines earned the Title "Devil Dogs" and earned the French (Forigette?) I don't really remember how to spell it,but we use to get these history lessons in Boot Camp. I hope they still do that.

The Germans considered Marines "Shock Troops" I always liked thinkin about that. That is the way to fight.

I don't suppose this guy has ever heard of the Vichy regime, huh? I find it hilarious that they hate us because of our foreign intervention but hate us for not participating in it in the past.

Neville Chamberlain, and his appeasement policy towards Hitler dd more to spread fascism across Europe than any inaction by the U.S. If he and other European countries had took a stand against Hitler early on, who knows if the massive war ever breaks out.

Fun fact. Churchill ordered the Royal Navy to sink French ships in WW2 and they did. Killed a lot of French sailors.
