Sadly states like Illinois and Minnesota are driven by inner cities. By and large the men are great. Their votes do not count any longer.

That whole thing would have ended differently anywhere in the South. Personally, I would relish the opportunity to punch Don Lemon in his smug face.

Or the obnoxious bearded guy who kept yelling at and questioning the congregation for being Christians.

No. I pointed out that not everything that happens or is said is a universal law applicable to everyone. If you believe that then I highlighted a later instance where it seems like the Bible is full of contradictions. Its not.

"Sell your clothes and buy a sword" isnt a commandment or a lesson for us. It was a specific thing he was telling Disciples to do then.

Again even your counter to me seems like you think "if someone quotes the Bible, they are telling me to do something"

Gotcha. So Jesus’ instruction was to Peter for a specific time and place and has no universal application. Got it.

BBC on why "Catholics Need the Muslims" during the rebuild of the Notre Dame. Don't forget that the rebuild was subject to calls to be "inclusive" of other faiths. MSP, like DEN, is full of virtue signaling wussies.

they fight back they go to jail, unlike the “protesters” that’s the entire issue in America now, if you have a job and family and pay taxes you have everything to lose….while the “protesters” don’t have any of the above and have nothing to lose even if arrested. they can poke and prod and push and push with no recourse, but the second a productive member of society barely pokes back they are the lead story and arrested, doxxed, life ruined and it’s even worse when you’re in a place that’s been taken over like Minneapolis, Portland or Seattle…a “jury of your peers” is terrifying because peers is going to include these unemployed freaks

Correct. Feels like you are trying to make a point by omission.

I feel like it would be hard to find a scripture that says we as Christians should just start fighting people that disrespect us. I think you will find a lot that says we should do the opposite.

Its probably one of the hardest things for me to grapple with. I just think we should at least grapple with it and not say "im just gonna be imperfect" as a way to do what feels good for us. its borderline gays sayings "God is Love" or "he'll love me no matter what" to justify being proudly gay and not fighting that sin.

No, I’m not. You applied the same standard to your usage of Scripture that you requested of the other poster. I don’t have a problem with it.

I literally didnt. I also explained how you misunderstood my point.

I showed how IF you applied that scripture to everyone universally, it would contradict. Its NOT meant to be applied to you. Its not a directive. Its a specific detail of a specific story. Just like the one i was originally discussing.

Nowhere did i say "You shouldnt raise a sword towards your enemies because Jesus told Peter not to". You assumed i was doing that (because you wanted to i guess).

Thank you for that well considered response. It's most certainly difficult to act in the way we are told in scripture and to turn that other cheek, but when we look back in history to see how Christians have been abused for their faith since day one of the establishment of the church we find that they accepted that persecution in meekness with an eye toward the eternity promised beyond this life.

In many congregations there are several members who are part of a security team and they are frequently armed. It's not broadcast widely nor are weapons brandished. Most members never even really know they are there. But - is there anywhere in scripture that we are told to rise up in violence, even in defense?

All accounts of the deaths of the apostles demonstrate that they died by various forms of execution (with the exception of the apostle John).

It's a hard thing to accept, but we are told, "Love your enemies. Do good unto them that spitefully use you..." But man, that can be a very difficult thing to do. Particularly in the face of such focused hatred.

Thanks again for your thoughts on the matter. While not popular, they ring true and are in accordance with God's stated will.

All throughout history Christians fought evil with prayer AND violence. This is not about politics. This is about good and evil. Right and wrong. But now they should just cower in prayer because they might go to jail. As a Christian your faith should be strong enough to do the right thing regardless.

Don't hide behind the bible because you are a coward.
